The Senior Director will lead the Business Innovation Office, a consultative organization that aids in the planning and governance of business transformation initiatives across Carnegie Mellon University. Reporting to the CIO and leading teams of skilled professionals, you will foster collaboration across administrative and academic units, serving as a senior member of the management team within Computing Services; collaborating with peers at Carnegie Mellon and other universities to provide oversight and guidance on projects critical to the University’s business innovation initiatives.
You will continuously partner with stakeholders across the university, shaping the prioritization of university wide business transformation initiatives and services encompassing: Process Improvement, Project Management, Process Automation and Technology Portfolio Management and Communications.
Improve organizational efficiency via process improvement methodologies.
Assist with project success and efficiency throughout the university
Reduce the amount of University process overhead and increase productivity at the university by adopting automation and workflow capabilities
Increase the likelihood of initiative success by utilizing effective change management and communication methods.
You must demonstrate:
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain composure when dealing with difficult situations and/or individuals
Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
Ability to pay close attention to detail; keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and records
Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work with sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required. A degree in Organizational Development, Business Administration, Information Technology or related fields are preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the following areas are required:
Experience improving processes, managing large scale projects, and assisting with process automation
Program management experience
Budget experience; including, planning, monitoring and managing budget within a department or multiple areas
Supervisory experience and experience managing/leading teams
Higher Education experience is preferred
Information Technology Project Management Experience is preferred
Preferred Certifications: Lean Six Sigma or Project Management Professional certification (PMP)
