The Corporate Security Lead is responsible for the assessment of risk and the management of appropriate security countermeasures and support programs to mitigate risk for Spark. As a member of the Corporate Security team, the Corporate Security Lead will have responsibilities to lead a variety of asset protection programs that safeguard Spark’s employees, facilities, operations, products, and reputation. The Corporate Security Lead will directly manage third-party suppliers and service providers supporting day-to-day security operations that are consistent with Spark’s business goals and objectives.
This role will be a “hands-on” member of a dynamic and collaborative Real Estate and Corporate Facilities department focused on continuous improvement and providing cost-effective asset protection solutions. This role will ensure the ongoing management and execution of security programs (including developing and implementing security policies and procedures, delivering security awareness training, managing and training others on the use of security technology, and will assume a key role in managing elements of crisis management, executive protection, travel security, and investigations as directed by the Head of Corporate Security).
Corporate Security Program Management
Manage risk-based, enterprise-wide asset protection programs at all Spark locations at the direction of the Head of Corporate Security.
Maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including business unit leads, building and property managers, law enforcement and regulatory agencies, and external security resources.
Responsible for direct oversight of the security operations and the consistent delivery of security services to all Spark stakeholders.
Collaborate with, and leverage resources from, the Head of Corporate Security, Information Technology, Facility Management, Environmental Health, and Safety, Legal, Human Resources, and Corporate Communications to provide cost-effective asset protection solutions.
Responsible for managing all costs associated with contract service providers (security personnel and equipment service and maintenance) to ensure all costs remain in line with budget forecasts.
Communicate metrics to key stakeholders measuring the performance and effectiveness of the Corporate Security Program.
Corporate Security Program Management
Manage, coordinate, and implement corporate security programs to protect Spark’s critical assets. Specifically:
Security Policies, Practices, and Procedures – Maintain and audit Spark’s security-related policies, practices, and procedures. Support facility security initiatives and assist in implementing industry best practices at Spark locations including, but not limited to, access control, credentialing, visitor management, and mail screening.
Investigations – Support the Head of Corporate Security with conducting, supporting, and coordinating complex and sensitive investigations regarding security threats and potential violations. Assist with coordination between Spark and law enforcement agencies while communicating findings and “lessons learned” to business unit leads and key stakeholders.
Executive and Event Security – Support risk-based executive protection and event security programs. Assist with implementing and supervising protection efforts based on threat, and advise on security and safety measures. Work closely with third-party security personnel and law enforcement resources to conduct security advances, prepare security risk assessments, and arrange security support that is compatible with personal and business needs.
?Travel Security – Support policies, practices, and resources that inform and protect business travelers. Assist with managing support programs capable of monitoring international security issues and ensure communication of risks to business travelers and expatriates. Assist with coordinating and supporting protective measures, as needed, and in accordance with destination risk. Assist with facilitating security awareness training for business travelers.
Threat Management and Response – Assist with supervising Corporate Security threat management and response programs that address a variety of security situations with the potential to affect Spark employees, facilities, and senior management.
Crisis Management, Emergency Response, and Business Continuity – Support the implementation of enterprise-wide crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity programs. Collaborate with internal business unit leads, external law enforcement, first responders, and property representatives to minimize possible business exposure from internal and
external security risks. Work collaboratively to organize appropriate response and recovery strategies and programs.
Security Training and Awareness – Assist in delivering security-related education and training programs to employees and key stakeholders. Collaborate with business unit leads to ensure a security awareness mindset.
Workplace Violence Prevention and Response – Assist the Head of Corporate Security in delivering workplace violence and related incidents awareness, prevention, intervention, and response training to key stakeholders and business unit leads.
Security Systems and Technology – Provide day-to-day oversight of the operation and administration of electronic security systems (e.g., access control, video management, intrusion detection, alarms, etc.) used for the protection of Spark facilities. Support relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the service and maintenance of security systems and technology.
Guard Services – Provide day-to-day oversight and direct management of third-party guard services. Work closely with business unit leaders and service suppliers to establish clear expectations for protecting Spark assets and ensure the development of site-specific procedures and responsibilities. Where applicable, engage with landlord security service provider management teams to ensure appropriate response coordination with Spark’s guard services.
This role will manage a contract security staff and service and maintenance suppliers to ensure the all personnel are delivering to agreed goals and service levels while encompassing the below Spark Values.
Bachelor of Sciences or Arts degree, or equivalent experience.
Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
7-10+ years of security management experience.
Experience managing day to day operational aspects of an enterprise-wide security program, preferably with experience managing contract personnel and affiliated service agreements.
Experience evaluating and designing physical security measures.
Experience defining and managing corporate security metrics.
Experience in security policy development and project management.
Experience engaging with, and communicating security programs to, operational-level management teams.
Experience developing and administering security systems in multi-facility operations, campuses, and multi-tenant facilities.
Experience deploying and administering guard services, including reviewing contracts, roles, post orders, and capabilities.
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) preferred, but not required.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred, but not required.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other Spark stakeholders to implement security programs, practices, and procedures across the enterprise.
