Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lab Manager for the Medical Oncology department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).
Participates in the design, planning, organization, management, and operations of the Principal Investigator's laboratory. Responsible for the management of all fiscal operations of the laboratory including ordering supplies and animals, as necessary. Responsible for the maintenance of the Principal Investigator's laboratory occupancy records as required by State and Federal agencies with respect to safety in the laboratory. Responsible for maintaining animal colonies, writing and maintaining animal protocols, and maintaining tissue specimens. Also responsible for teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows as well as other laboratory staff/technicians.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs professional and scientific research in the areas of tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy, especially with detailed knowledge of T cell biology, antigen presentation, T cell receptors, cellular therapy, and CAR-T cells. This research includes cell culture, transduction, transfection, retroviruses, lentiviruses, construction of vectors and DNA cloning, RNA synthesis, flow cytometry, cytolysis assays, cytokine assays, proliferation assays, PCR, analysis of human samples, and murine tumor models.
Serves as the manager for the Principal Investigator’s laboratory.
Responsible for administrative matters related to the design, planning, organization, management, and operation of the laboratory.
Establishes standard protocols, practices, procedures, and techniques for effective and safe operation of the laboratory.
Responsible for planning the use of laboratory space to best fit the Principal Investigator’s program.
Assists administrative staff in the interpretation of scientific aspects and specifications for provisions of purchasing, fiscal, personnel, and other administrative functions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or Master's Degree in a relevant science plus five (5) years or more of relevant work experience.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Project management skills.
