The University of Southern California Institute for Addiction Science (IAS)In the Department of Preventive Medicine is recruiting for the position of the Associate Director of Communications and Operations (ADCO).Â This person will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day communications and operations of IAS, being mindful of the Instituteâs budget, resources, and vision. This individual will lead meetings and activities of smaller affinity groups within the Institute, engage the community through events, speaking, and media, and oversee other IAS related projects and programs. The ADCO manages the Instituteâs strategic plan, ensuring milestones are met and communicating and coordinating changes when necessary.Â They will lead efforts in bringing together scholars to engage in grant writing and manuscript preparation as well as oversee dissemination of science through content curation, program management, and design of the Instituteâs website and digital media platforms. The ADCO assists with the stewardship of gifts, grant, and funders, completing reporting as necessary. They assist the Instituteâs leadership in activities related to multi-school grants and subcontracts, including facilitating Instituteâs infrastructure to aid data acquisition and management, planning, design and protocol development. The ADCO will oversee staff, students and volunteers as the Institute grows.Â The ideal candidate would have experience working in academic settings and program management as well as exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide range professions and stakeholders.
