The Director, Pharmacy Operations and Planning reports to and works under the guidance of the VP of Pharmacy to plan and execute pharmacy and cross-functional operational, performance improvement and business initiatives. As a key pharmacy leader, the Director will work in close collaboration with the pharmacy department leadership team, DFCI business owners, stakeholders, and vendors to determine and prioritize business strategies, and achieve pharmacy goals. Facilitates organizational, administration and portfolio management activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations Project Management
Manages high-priority cross-functional operational projects, working with project sponsors and other key stakeholders
Facilitates and monitors operational initiatives across the department including pharmacy specific project prioritization, soliciting new projects (department specific and cross-functional) while managing existing projects underway
Communications Support and Issue Management
Develops and disseminates key communications for the Pharmacy, including correspondence, memos, announcements, briefing material.
Plans and facilitates meetings, identifying key agenda items and meeting participants and determining desired meeting outcomes. Identifies and acts on follow-up items
Provides analytic and communication support to the VP Pharmacy for committee and other management-related initiatives.
Problem-solves to alleviate issues by prioritizing, diffusing conflict, and resolving escalated issues from pharmacy leadership or other stakeholders.
Monitors external environment and evaluate innovations & pharmacy strategic operational planning and benchmarking against industry standards. Disseminates and presents research findings
Develops business cases for the department that align future work to operational and Institutional goals (e.g. space planning, mitigation strategies for infusion services, innovation opportunities, etc.)
Works with department leadership on assessing additional departmental needs for the future success of the department to accommodate multiple initiatives and continued growth across the enterprise
Develops improvement initiatives and operational plan to optimize pharmacy resources
Engages with VP of Pharmacy, pharmacy leadership and DFCI leadership in key operational and process improvement efforts that impact pharmacy
Performs varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the pharmacy environment and leadership requirements
No direct supervision of staff. Will work with pharmacy leadership team and direct project teams.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in business/healthcare, Pharm. D. degree or related field.
Master's Degree in Business Administration, health administration, pharmacy administration preferred.
8 years of experience in business planning and management, including 5 or more years in healthcare, healthcare business administration, pharmacy operations or closely related role
5 years of leadership experience in a highly complex, matrixed organization
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Strong strategic thinking skills, analytics and management experience
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact and influence cross-functional activities across departments
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Ability to effectively operate in a team environment with all levels of staff
Organized and detail oriented
Strong project management skills
Highly skilled with Windows-based software, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and/or Access
Experience in preparing presentations, graphics and design
