Stoel Rives has an exciting opportunity for a new Director of Business Intelligence & Financial Reporting, potentially based in any of our ten office locations. This key leadership role develops, implements, and manages all aspects of delivery of financial and business competitive intelligence information to enhance the firm’s success, in alignment with the firm’s strategic goals and objectives. This position is responsible for all long- and short-term planning related to reporting and information delivery. Together with the other members of the accounting and finance management team, guides the accounting and finance operations of the firm.
What you will do:
Financial Reporting, Pricing, and Business Intelligence
Oversee the correct functioning of firm-wide management reports, including audit reports, tax reports, margin reports, surveys, and budget reports.
Own and continuously improve tools for paperless access to financial data for firm management and lawyers.
Prepare firm financial package and supporting reports, monthly business development reports, initiative and/or industry reporting, Business Objects reporting, credit and collection reports, partner portal reports, compensation year and practice group hours reports, practice group and location reports.
Issue the monthly financial package.
Develop and drive adoption of business intelligence functions at the firm, with a focus on clients, industry/market intelligence, prospective clients, lateral hires, and group/acquisition targets.
Budget and Compensation
Provide reporting and data analysis support for all lawyer and staff compensation processes.
Manage income, salary, expense and capital budgeting.
Responsible for partner compensation and benefits components of budget.
Collaborate on accounting department software conversions and upgrades, at times as the project manager.
Lead and develop the finance team, setting goals, and driving a client service mindset and personal accountability.
Participate as key analytics stakeholder in cross-functional teams.
Partner with and provide back-up for the accounting team, to include overflow assistance when possible.
As a member of the Administrative Management Group, maintain open lines of communication and work collaboratively to ensure high quality and efficient support to lawyers and external/internal clients.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required, plus at least 3-5 years’ experience leading Financial Reporting in Professional Services. MBA is preferred.
At least 5 years’ experience leading and developing an effective team.
Advanced knowledge of BI software, development, and tools.
Be an excellent project manager and communicator with the ability to effectively manage deadlines and service delivery expectations.
A collaborative approach to working with other leaders and project managers at the Firm.
Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
The ability to build energy and initiative in teams working on challenging projects and implementations.
A growth mindset that keeps up with changes and trends in the industry and the tools available to successfully guide the Firm through future volatility.
