The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education and community service goals of the University. The quality assurance team is providing tools, commodity, and consulting service for both internal and external groups.
Under direction of the Manager, Application Support and Operations, the Software Quality Assurance Supervisor will supervise, lead, coordinate and manage test teams across OIT. Provide the framework and guidance for testing done for applications and systems, including developing the testing strategy or plan, developing test cases, monitoring/documenting/reporting on testing progress, and producing the final report at the conclusion of the testing. Manage and coordinate designing and performing functional, regression, and load testing of enterprise web based applications such as Kuali Financial System, Kuali Coeus and other high risk applications or systems in the QA portfolio. Communicate proactively and effectively with team members, team leads, project managers, software developers and management on issues. Assist the OIT teams in developing quality assurance policies and procedures; will recommend systems enhancements and improvements. Manage testing schedules and priorities and evaluate and select automated QA test tools.
Two (2) to five (5) years of experience managing an information technology organization. Previous working experience with software release cycles in web based environment and have understanding of software testing methodologies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with an emphasis in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, or in a related field. Typically 2-5 years of experience managing an information technology organization.
Thorough knowledge of application life-cycle and release management principles and process.
Advanced knowledge of software function and analysis.
Experience developing test strategies and test plans, regression tests, and testing harnesses.
Experience with dynamic and static code scanning tools and automated test tools.
Experience working with programmers and functional users to develop test scenarios and test cases.
Experience with creating test data, de-identifying data, and ensuring security of test data.
Experience producing status reports to management that help identify priority work.
Thorough knowledge relating to the design, development and analysis of software.
Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.
Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
Basic supervisory skills.
Knowledge, ability, and experience developing staff skills and overall effectiveness.
Thorough knowledge of quality assurance principles, theories and concepts.
Understanding of programming concepts and web application architecture.
Operates at an advisory level, consistently interacting with IT and line-of-business senior management.
Demonstrated leadership ability to make sound decisions.
Creates and tracks the release improvement process to be applied across all IT domains and initiates new projects related to release management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening.
Thorough knowledge of other related areas of IT.
Thorough knowledge of department and University processes and procedures.
