The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute is seeking a talented and passionate Research Lab Specialist to join its team. As part of the Ellison Institute, the position will be responsible for developing and executing various histological workflows to obtain tissue samples for digital pathology. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and enjoy working with an interdisciplinary team of research scientists. The Institute is made up of a
diverse group of innovative and talented professionals who work in a fast-paced environment that provides ongoing support to research projects, patient care, lab research and administrative operations.
The Research Lab Specialist is responsible for performing the following job duties:
Collaborates with principal investigator and other researchers to plan, design and conduct highly technical and complex research projects.
Develops routine histological workflows including tissue fixation techniques, embedding, microtomy and immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence.
Collects imaging data using slide scanning microscopy.
Analyzes research data and provides interpretations requiring significant immunohistochemistry knowledge. Advises on methods for improving experiment results.
Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication.
May supervise other employees engaged in laboratory technical services on a regular or project basis.
Preferred Education: Masterâs degree.
Preferred Experience: 5 years.
Preferred Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods and ability to supervise on a regular or project basis.
Salary Range: $63,900 - $88,669
