Essential Functions:
POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for physical facilities, space planning, utilization and reporting, and capital asset records for the department of Radiology. This includes planning, coordinating and managing MIR’s construction projects. Administers space management reporting and records within University systems. Develops and oversees maintenance activities of the Department’s physical plant. Advises bids and develops capital budgets related to physical facilities. Responsible for all in-house renovations, department moves, proactive management of MIR leases, equipment and supervision of MIR facilities support staff. Coordinate projects with FMD Design & Construction. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Prepares MIR capital projects budget and space management plans and presents for approval and implementation.
- Plans, designs, coordinates and manages MIR construction projects within MIR and BJH/SLCH space.
- Reviews all MIR projects with FMD Design & Construction to ensure Federal, State and City code compliance requirements are being met.
- Obtains City occupancy permits for appropriate construction and renovation projects.
- Provides input to FMD in planning for future infrastructure requirements.
- Reviews and coordinates all facilities construction and infrastructure changes with FMD.
- Supervises in-house MIR renovation function. Ensures that work is performed on a cost-competitive basis, per University policies.
- Coordinates all MIR Department facilities moves.
- Prepares and manages MIR facilities budget.
- Assists in developing MIR equipment contracts related to facility infrastructure (HVAC, chillers, plumbing, electrical, generators).
- Maintains current MIR equipment asset inventory.
- Maintains current and accurate MIR space inventory. Ensures that space inventory is accurately entered into the University space system.
- Maintains MIR construction document archives. Provides duplicate as-built construction documents to FMD Design & Construction.
- Establishes active construction and contractor safety program. Investigates all safety-related incidents and accidents.
- Establishes close liaison with University EH&S/RSO and complies with work environment guidelines.
- Complies with JCAHO requirements in any MIR space that will be impacted by audits of that accrediting body.
- Identifies options for space requirements and involves executive director in advance of lease expiration (either for space MIR leases or for leases to others).
- Provides input to imaging equipment specifications relative to physical plant constraints. Coordinates installation of equipment.
- Maintains close, open, on-going and effective liaison with FMD & BJH/SLCH facilities organizations as well as other sites where MIR provides clinical radiology services.
- Complies with University Building & Grounds approval and purchasing vendor sourcing (Preferred Supplier Program and Supplier Diversity Initiative) and selection guidelines (competitive bidding, sole source, etc.). When requested, assists FMD Design & Construction in presenting major MIR projects to University Projects Committee and Building & Grounds for approval.
- Establishes a culture of continuous organizational and process improvement.
- Supervises a team of nine employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or civil engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in architectural project management and/or construction projects.
- Minimum of 10 years experience with site infrastructure and building systems including structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, horizontal and vertical transportation systems for large campuses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical and professional experience in building design/construction, construction cost estimating, asset verification accounting principles and general knowledge of construction.
- Ability to perform financial projections and present value calculation; knowledge of accounting systems relating to the university and to general construction; ability to read business proforma, balance sheets and income statements; thorough an understanding of leased property issues; and familiarity with construction financing and sources of funding.
- Significant experience in business writing especially for Requests for Proposal, Requests for Qualifications.
- Ability to create Excel spreadsheets for tracking project budgets and schedules and for cash flow analyses.
- General word processing.
- Working knowledge of imaging equipment (CT Scan, MRI, etc.).
- Supervisory experience.
- Computer aided drafting experience.
Job Type/Schedule:
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

This position is in the Department of Radiology. The position is located at the East Building. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Salary Range:
Base pay commensurate with experience.
