As the Director of Infection Prevention, you will: - Oversees HAI surveillance program that includes data collection, analysis, and distribution of findings, IP process measurement and investigation of potential clusters, outbreaks and other communicable diseases through the application of sound epidemiological methods
- Leads all aspects of outbreak investigation, evidence-based practice implementation, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization methods, products, and design and planning for the built environment across the system
- Interprets and implements the Infection Control standards of care recommended by governmental and accrediting agencies including assisting the public health agencies with communicable disease surveillance
- Responsible for reporting to, and collaboration with public health agencies to include but not limited to reporting of communicable diseases, planning preparedness and response activities for emerging infectious diseases or those arising from natural or intentional causes
- Serving as the administrative chair, leads with the Infection Prevention Committee (IPC) for the development and execution of a strategic plan for the IP Program, periodic review, and revision of this plan and identification of specific goals and objectives to achieve continuous improvements in effectiveness
- Assures and coordinates proactive IP risk assessment and provide infection control risk mitigation recommendations involving the environment of care (EOC) to include planning, design, renovation and new construction of facilities and areas plus response to problems impacting the safety of the EOC for patients, personnel and visitors
- Provides supervision of the IP program personnel including staff recruitment, training, retention, advancement, and succession planning
- Facilitates and participates on performance improvement teams throughout the organization
- Facilitates engagement with the organization’s overall patient, personnel, and environment of care safety activities (engagement with Compassion, Safety, and Engagement committees)
- Facilitates input into supply chain system on evaluation, selection, and implementation of products and services
- Reviews at least annually or more frequently as needed the changes in accreditation, licensure, regulatory requirements and new findings from scientific literature for IPC and recommends changes in system-wide policies, practice, products, and other interventions based upon this review
- Oversees the application of information technology and management systems and assures maintenance of these systems to support the surveillance program
- Directs and assists in preparing reports and statistical data for the infection prevention committee, medical staff committees, medical executive committee, Kootenai Health Administration and other committees as needed
- Provides education to personnel, patients, visitors and the community on IP practices
- Is willing to learn new skills and tools necessary to facilitate inpatient care and delivery activities
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships
- Approaches conflict in a constructive manner helps to identify problems, offer solutions and participate in the resolution
