Web and Digital Content Specialist - University Libraries-2015569
We are seeking a Web and Digital Content Specialist reporting to the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries' Director of Marketing, Communications & External Relations (MC&ER), the Web and Digital Content Specialist assists in the planning, creation, maintenance and analysis of the Library's web, digital, and social medial channels. This position has day-to-day, operational responsibility for managing the Libraries' selected content management system - Drupal - and will act as the link between the MC&ER team and individuals who have decentralized responsibility for editing web pages.
Core responsibilities will include:
Actively drive the ongoing innovation and advancement of the Libraries' primary digital communications channels to grow audience and maximize engagement.
Manage content posting on library.cmu.edu, the Libraries intranet, and all Libraries social media channels, serving as the point person for updates across the sites and as a liaison to internal stakeholder communities and IT colleagues.
Develop original web and social media content to promote the Libraries and build engagement with key audiences, working with Libraries divisions to update and add new content, and acting as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Work closely with the Libraries' technical support team to ensure accessibility, functionality and performance of university's digital platforms.
Actively contribute to content calendars and participate in content and campaign brainstorming sessions.
Act as administrator for the Libraries e-newsletter platform and perform regular email list maintenance.
Measure and report social media, website, and newsletter analytics.
Develop video and other multimedia approaches to deliver stories and promote events.
Research best practices and new approaches in content marketing and social media.
Manage Springshare's LibCal to update the Libraries events calendar.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing or digital communications environment.
2-3 years of experience with digital communications and/or social media.
Excellent writing, editing, research, and strong organizational skills.
Basic familiarity with HTML and CSS and willingness to learn new content management systems.
Experience updating/editing/maintaining website content in Drupal.
Experience managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Above average knowledge of and ability with computers, including Windows and Apple platforms.
Understanding of best practices for email, social, and other digital writing
Experience with blog or web editing and using web content management systems
Experience with Google Analytics, other digital metrics to track success
Experience with and/or a strong interest in building and engaging existing and new external audiences.
Familiarity with Drupal framework and site building
Familiarity with with Springshare's LibApps
