At UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, the Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for developing, defining, and executing project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables across a portfolio of projects. This role requires a combination of finance, technology, analysis, and organizational skills. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the execution of the Translational Research Database consistent with executive expectations. Activities include collaborating and coordinating the efforts budgetary planning, budgetary management and reporting, software development and delivery, collecting requirements, design work, creating documentation, managing alpha and beta rollouts, operational readiness and deploying a working system. The Senior Project Manager may also directly supervise a team of program, project, and/or product managers responsible for resourcing, keeping tabs on in-flight projects, and ensuring players are distributed appropriately to meet the collective needs of the domain. Must possess a deep knowledge of software development processes, lifecycles, and best practices. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated independent thinker with high energy and drive, and demonstrated leadership, teambuilding, influencing, and communication skills.
Master's degree required, PhD preferred. Relevant years of experience may substitute for advanced degree per University guidelines. Experience in managing multiple concurrent software development projects, projects of a large scale and a high level of complexity. Commercial software experience strongly preferred. PMP certification preferred.
* Preferred experience managing projects that include Clinical Trial Management Software (ie. Oncore, etc) and Electronic Medical Records (ie. Cerner, Epic and Aria)
* Preferred experience with working cloud based computing and data (ie. AWS, Azure, etc)
* Experienced in managing development projects of novel databases/warehouses
