The Consumer, Small Business, and Wealth Investment Management (WIM) accounting teams are focused on providing excellent accounting support in the most efficient way possible for Business Units, such as Consumer Card, Consumer & Small Business Banking, Digital Platforms, Operations, and Wealth & Investment Management. The teams' primary responsibilities include ensuring proper general ledger (GL) accounting and complete and accurate financial reporting through robust, efficient processes and strong financial controls.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for a motivated accounting professional to join the Consumer, Small Business and Wealth Accounting team. This role requires a developed understanding of enterprise finance functional areas and responsible for internal financial management reporting to support the enterprise, working with business partners in conducting in-depth research of financial, operating and analyzing, interpreting and report findings. In addition this team member will closely work with multiple functions and strategies within Finance, Accounting, Regulatory, Risk, Operations, Line of Business (LOB) and also will be involved in multiple strategic initiatives across the organization in parallel with all the below daily responsibilities and requirements. Domain Finance knowledge is required to lead the analysis of highly complex business problems across all business units that they will then solve and look for opportunities in automation of process solutions. Recommending business strategies or approaches and providing input to business strategic plans based on various analysis.
Day-to-day activities will vary but heavily oriented towards Deposits and Loan accounting, GL entries and correcting entries, Invoice management, GL Monitoring and adjustments and other Controllership activities.
Duties are accounting based operational processes including month-end and quarterly accounting/reviewing tasks, and special assignments
Reviewing GL and system of record data, completing research, analysis and eOne reconciliations
Preparing and reviewing data for financial, SEC and regulatory reports
Performing detailed research of data and processes, analyzing, interpreting and reporting findings utilizing Excel, ESSBASE/Smartview and Financial reporting systems (Eagle Web, Oracle GL, IRIS Web, OBIEE)
Potential to providing functional advice and training to lower level accounting positions
Establishing effective preventative and detective internal controls structure to ensure accurate financial accounting and reporting
Establishing strong relationships with LOB partners and working closely to understand impacts
Collaborating with others to successfully implement continuous improvement changes within the team
Special assignments which directly impacts the accuracy of loan level downstream Regulatory and SEC reporting
Market Skills and Certifications
Bachelor's/ Post graduate in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
7+ years of experience in accounting operations roles with 4+ years of financial analysis and accounting experience
Experience in finance operations or accounting operations roles such as financial forecasting & reporting, monthly closing, forecasting and planning, financial planning analysis, cost allocation & costing, balance sheet, revenue & expense forecasting, transfer pricing, ALM & Treasury, reconciliation, GL accounting, financial analytics & consulting
Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles: statutory and GAAP
Knowledge and understanding of regulatory reporting: Federal Reserve, OCC, and SEC
Ability to work both independently and within team environment across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to perform complex analyses, build financial models, draw conclusions, and communicate recommendations to business leaders
Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines
Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Charter Accountant (CA)/ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or candidate preferred
Public accounting audit experience a plus
Demonstrated knowledge and application in understanding legal intercompany settlement processes and applying GAAP to financial reporting
A familiarity with accounting for trusts, loans, hedge funds are a plus
Demonstrated ability to understand end-to-end processes with multiple data transfers
Experience with data analytic tools (such as ESSBASE, SAS and/or SQL)
Previous experience in creating/build models to perform analysis
Advance knowledge of PowerPoint and/or the creation of executive financial briefings
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
