We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting research and development for the Chemical and Process Engineering group in the field of Solid Process Engineering with your knowledge and expertise. We specialize in a variety of solids unit operations such as drying, milling, calcining, precipitation/crystallization, filtration, mixing, coating, agglomeration, and solids handling. This specific role will be working as our expert in drying processes and other areas as your capabilities allow.
The purpose of this research and development group is to achieve and maintain BASF's technological leadership by developing innovative solutions for BASF operations, improving methods for future developments, and advancing new technologies.
The members of the group are providing research and development services as well as process engineering services for BASF investment activities which involve solid processes. Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in chemical engineering, materials science, mineral processing or a related discipline and your relevant experience in solid process engineering (drying and related process experiences will be given special consideration) with significant experience in research and development both on the theoretical, mathematical modeling side as well as on the experimental side, you will execute complex projects individually or in a team that require a high level of specialized know-how and broad experience, follow global process engineering design rules and best practices, document results accordingly, propose new projects, and actively explore possibilities of optimization in projects.
Your demonstrated project management skills will be essential as you manage a full range of projects and independently interact with stakeholders/customers (e.g. plant manager, process manager, others) to clarify needs.
Demonstrating your experience in solid process engineering unit operations such as drying, milling, calcination, precipitation/crystallization, filtration, mixing, coating, agglomeration, and solids handling, you will participate in the development and expansion of the team's areas of expertise and initiate & participate in research projects.
Using your methodical approach to problem definition and solution identification with long term sustainability emphasized, as well as your experience in planning, supervising and analyzing of lab experiments, you will actively broaden your own knowledge in your field of expertise and expand your repertoire of methods.
Working as a leader, you will support know-how transfer within the team (i.e. mentoring of less experienced team members).
Assuming a radar function, you will observe and evaluate new methods, market trends and the activities of competitors (patents, literature).
Your ability to effectively and successfully work in teams will be critical as you potentially supervise other professionals and lab technicians and act as a functional lead of a virtual team.
Your unwavering commitment to compliance will be evident as you comply with EHS rules and initiate safety review for experiments, ensure compliance, and assume EHS responsibilities delegated by a senior manager.
Successfully engaging within and outside the organization, you will enhance your network in the global Process Engineering community and local R&D community. You will also build up and actively use your network for your own project tasks and to support the acquisition of projects (with guidance from your manager).
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you grow your network in the external R&D community and represent your area of expertise in academic conferences (including scientific presentations).
