UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing technology solutions to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. Further, UW-IT provides strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UW’s IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW.
UW Information Technology Finance (ITF) is a newly established program that will support the UW-IT work on Finance Transformation, the University’s large-scale project to modernize its finance operations, business systems, and processes. ITF is currently looking for a Program Manager who will support the UW-IT work on Finance Transformation.
The Program Manager position combines program and employee management functions. This new role is a critical team member who will help shape the direction and planning activities to drive an efficient and effective program. Success in this position require a keen ability to think and adjust on the fly while still maintaining a well planned and executed schedule. This role will be the primary supervisor for project manager resources assigned to matrixed workstreams in support of the ITF program. Manage and develop skills planning, resource allocation, team building, and professional development.
The Program Manager oversees and manages multiple workstreams as they execute Finance Transformation. The Program Manager ensures that the teams have the right skillsets and are ready to commence functional operations. This position will report to the Program Director.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving development, implementation of enterprise wide implementations.
Experience leading and/or managing teams in a highly matrixed environment.
Demonstrated ability to work on a heavily matrixed team in a cooperative, collaborative effort to gain results.
Proven experience in applying well-developed problem solving skills (quantitative, conceptual, analytical) as well as decision-making skills.
Ability to plan and sequence work and work streams in an ambiguous changing climate
Experience as a project/program manager and reporting skills
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Experience in a large university, large medical center, or other large complex enterprise.
Experience representing and/or leading implementation efforts across a large, decentralized enterprise.
PMP, PgM Certified.
Experience preparing for and managing organizational change.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work in an open office environment. This position involves responsibilities and occasional situations where work outside of standard business hours is required to respond to incidents or to meet critical deadlines. Work in an open office environment.
This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
This is an essential position and is required to report to work remotely when UW suspends operations.
This position is eligible for flexible remote work.
