Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is searching for a Systems Administrator I to join its Information Technology Infrastructure, & Research Computing team. This position will assist with delivering robust, stable, and secure infrastructure in support of the University's administrative, educational, and research needs.
A systems administrator is responsible for ensuring the uptime, performance, resources, and security of server infrastructure to meet the needs of users. A Systems Administrator I will assist with and perform routine systems administration support functions, support both Windows and Linux server infrastructure, generate reports, perform intermediate troubleshooting, assist with customer requests within our ticketing software, and maintain positive client relations.
Install, upgrade, and configure server hardware and software.
Assist with the design and implementation of server systems.
Assist with the installation and configuration of network file servers and hardware; complete server testing and application; conduct basic server performance analyses and tuning.
Create programs for automating system administration.
Help analyze system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software for servers; troubleshoot and repair configuration problems; and assist with troubleshooting network problems.
Assist with recommendations, specifications, and plans for server hardware and software purchases.
Document server support methods, procedures, and configuration.
Assist with new technology deployments and system integration testing.
Monitor and maintain system security; provide backup protection, and recovery support for client data.
Assist with the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability to the client's needs.
Gather information and generate reports as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Two (2) years of related experience.
Additional experience may be considered as a substitution for the minimum education requirement.
Experience with Windows/UNIX/Linux.

Project management and higher education experience.
Demonstrated experience in the following: system, storage, back-up or network administration.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMWare or Hyper-V.
Office 365 administration experience.
MCSA or RHCSA certification.
VMware Associate certification.
Experience supporting physical and virtual server infrastructure.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
Experience with software ticketing systems such as Service Now or Agiloft.
