Stanford University School of Medicine sets the training ground for the next generation of biomedical leaders and pioneers. The Director of Operations of MD Admissions will collaborate with the Assistant Dean on strategic planning for admissions process including applicant management system database development and maintenance.
They will uses LEAN and other skills to facilitate development of programs from initial concept to implementation. Serve as a primary lead (collaborate with the Associate Dean and Admissions Officers) for the development and maintenance of the various database management systems including primary Admissions applicant management system - MedAdmit (AMP).
Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary liaison to IRT and AAMC to manage the smooth flow of data and proper functioning of applications. Collaborate with IRT on process enhancements, document management, reporting, etc.
Serves as the administrative liaison to the Committee of Admissions and Diversity Advisory Panel to ensure the Office of MD Admissions meets institutional and programmatic goals. Proactively identify potential roadblocks and gaps in meeting goals and develop solutions.
Take lead (in collaboration with the Associate Dean and Admissions Officers) to develop and maintain a comprehensive manual(s) with all policies, process maps, instructions, timelines, Admissions Office operation manual, Recruitment Manual, and interviewer/reviewer manual. Conduct reviews with Stanford University stakeholders (i.e. Legal) and modify based on input.
Oversee the Admissions group's finances. Set the financial parameters, manage the financial resources, perform financial analyses, and conduct long-range financial planning to inform decisions for all Admissions expenses. Work with the Financial Services Group during budgeting to set priorities for the upcoming year.
Oversee the interpretation, implementation and compliance with policies and regulations. Recommend actions and/or resolve complex issues that often span organizational boundaries. Monitor HR policies and compliance. Oversee hiring objectives and job description creations. Knowledge of employment trends, legal issues, and best practices.
Participate in multiple recruitment events throughout the admissions cyclenational travel is required.
Take a leadership role in regional/national committees and conferences. Represent Stanford University School of Medicine to various constituents and at multiple events throughout the country
Establish and maintain strong liaison and working relationships with students, faculty, pre-med advisors, and Educational Program Services, staff, as well as admissions peers nationally.
Develop, analyze, evaluate, and revise outreach and recruitment strategies to identify talent and increase diversity of the candidate pool.
Based on the analyses of admissions trends, evaluation of the MMI, and outcomes of various constituent surveys, contribute to and/or serve as primary or contributing author on publications of these analyses that can contribute to the evolving field of MD admissions.
Assist in preparation of the Admissions Office operation manual, Recruitment Manual, and interviewer/reviewer manual to accommodate outreach, and interview techniques. Conduct reviews with Stanford University stakeholders (i.e. Legal) and modify based on input.

Master's degree highly desired.
At least 8 years of experience managing an admissions office, preferably MD admissions.
Experience in grant writing.
Experience in data analysis and advanced database management skills.
Experience in major project management with advanced skills in leading teams.
Experience in program development.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
