| Accountabilities: Advising and Leadership Development Advise and support the recognized five fraternities, three sororities, and other student organizations as needed. Work with the councils and chapter presidents to develop, market, and facilitate educational programs for council officers, chapter leadership, and general members. This may include leadership transitions, new officer training, and speakers that address topics considered priorities by council leadership and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Advising staff. Provide mentorship and coaching to support student skill development in areas including goalsetting, budget management, cultural competency, problem-solving, and managing interpersonal relationships. Coordinate annual FSL Awards. Identify areas of award recognition, train students on the application process, coordinate judging and award distribution. Maintain a comprehensive calendar of fraternity and sorority events and meetings throughout the year. Maintain accurate records of chapter officers, members, and advisors; as well as records of scholarship, community service, social events, and other pertinent statistics. Develop, in cooperation with governing councils, the implementation and coordination of an annual accreditation program for recognized chapters. Collaborate with Director of Fraternity and Sorority Advising to build leadership experiences and curriculum for organizations and community as a whole. Program and Event Management Provide event management and support for council and organization events including philanthropy events, social events, and community events. Develop and sustain positive working relationships with advisors, alumni, campus partners and other stakeholders through regular communication. Support the Center for Leadership and Student Involvement and Dean of the College division by participating in annual large-scale programs such as Orientation, Homecoming Weekend, Spring Party Weekend, Graduation, and Reunion Weekend. Consult with faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and national councils on issues related to fraternities and sororities. Collaborate with other campus departments by serving on university committees and/or by partnering on co-curricular programs that support community-building, wellness, and student success. May serve as primary event staff person and oversees coordination of all logistics with Facility Services, Campus Safety, etc. Develops familiarity and understanding of physical designs of each fraternity and sorority house where programs are executed. Marketing and Branding Create and maintain the marketing and branding plan for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Advising to promote the fraternity and sorority life experience. Create and maintain the Fraternity and Sorority Advising web page, social media accounts, and year-round positive PR campaigns. Facilitate brand integration to ensure marketing materials are in line with institutional priorities and maintained consistently throughout the organization. Assessment and Finance Support the councils to identify organization priorities and aid in the management of their budgets and finances.
Institute strategic measures to ensure financial responsibility is accomplished among the organizations. Coordinate assessments to measure the effectiveness of initiatives and programs.
Support collection of data and develop and implement program assessment plan to evaluate fraternity and sorority advising student learning outcomes and student satisfaction. Additional Responsibilities Process financial payments and reports for all assigned areas of fiduciary responsibility.
Prepare reports and provide research as assigned. Participate in department-wide planning of programs and initiatives and collaborate with others to ensure high quality events and services to students. Support the work of Fraternity and Sorority Advising through committees, task forces, and special assignments. Work in concert with other staff to ensure a high level of quality service to students, staff, and guests. Write reports, provide research and complete projects as assigned by the Director. Other duties as assigned. This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department. Professional Experience/Qualifications: Experience in advising undergraduate students; Experience working with culturally, ethnically, socio-economically diverse populations required; Demonstrated knowledge of issues and challenges facing undergraduate students in general and members of fraternities and sororities in particular including housing concerns, student conduct, diversity and inclusion, alcohol education, sexual assault prevention, and harm reduction/risk management; Demonstrated success in developing managing programs and services that promote student success and support; Demonstrated understanding and success in applying principles of fiscal responsibility and ethical behavior in the workplace, including a commitment to confidentiality; Demonstrated skills in project management, including data gathering and analysis, presentation skills, strategic project planning and project implementation; Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills, and ability to effectively communicate; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, campus faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders in support of the fraternity and sorority community; Experience managing and promoting events, initiatives, and programs through social media outlets and other online platforms. Preferred Qualifications: Affiliation in a Fraternity or Sorority preferred; At least one year of experience working with fraternities and sororities from various councils preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master's degree preferred and/or a combination of a Bachelor’s degree and professional experience will be accepted. Physical Demands: Ability to work evenings and weekends to support events and programming. Ability to travel and/or drive with student organizations attending events and conferences A current, valid driver's license, in accordance with the University's Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, may be required for certain work opportunities.
