The Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives position resides within the Education Administration unit of the Office of the Vice Dean for Education at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and reports to the Associate Dean for Education Administration. The Director will provide operational and organizational support for all units reporting to the Vice Dean for Education including the offices of Education Administration, Admissions, Curricular Affairs, Student Affairs, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, Student Financial Aid as well as CERE, CME Genetic Counseling, Global Population, and the Simulation Center.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Education Administration, the Director will lead the culture and community of administrative professionals serving the Office of Education. The Director will deliver project management, strategic planning and implementation support to further the OME's strategic vision and the Dean's organizational initiatives. This position will partner with senior leadership and be authorized to leverage resources across all subdivisions. The Director serves as a main resource for colleagues, facilitating strategic thinking, addressing challenges, and fostering efforts to develop effective systems and procedures to ensure the alignment and success of the school's education priorities and student satisfaction. The Director will play a critical role in cultivating collaboration, communication, and accountability across all units in the Office of Medical Education. They will oversee and support managers with all HR functions driving efforts for recruitment, retention, and development for all staff, as well as all other general operations.
Working with the Associate Deans, the Director will:
Organize Education senior leadership meetings; create agenda and processes for planning and preparation of initiatives; track follow-up tasks and outcomes
Lead special projects, collaborate with senior administration to ensure appropriate communication at all levels, ensure that all team members understand project goals and are working collaboratively to achieve them
Create, maintain, improve and communicate the tracking and current status of education operations
Partner with finance staff to address budgetary issues and implement plans of prevention or correction of operational processes
Provide leadership support on staff human resources issues --workforce planning and collaboration with managers to ensure effective and consistent approaches to recruiting, on-boarding and training, performance management; learning and development; staff engagement and retention
Coordinating collaboration between Office of Education and University offices (Communications, Registrar, ITS, and others) to ensure successful relationships
Establish global policies, processes and procedures that ensure consistency and support of continual improvement
Act as a trusted advisor and internal consultant providing process improvement analysis to address challenges
Working with the units, serve as the primary content manager for Education's website; coordinate with CUIMC Communications.
Work closely with deans and directors to develop cross-departmental systems of communication and information sharing between key administrative staff, student and faculty channels.
Supports key personnel across the organization to build their skills and experience
Consult with units regarding data needs; coordinate with CUIMC Information Tech, CU Registrar and other units to ensure that reports, databases, and similar are accurate and available to support data needs with Education.
Partner with managers to evolve staffing and productivity plans across the organization; recognizing the differences in needs between each sub unit

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 5 years of related experience
Masters degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, organizational development or equivalent
10 years of progressively responsible experience, with a minimum of 5 years related experience in higher education administration
