The Coordinator of Governance, Risk, and Compliance supports IT Governance by overseeing initiatives necessary to effectively manage the information technology environment. This includes managing responses to audits, identified risks, business continuity activities, and providing support activities for IT Governance committees. An ideal coordinator will enjoy engaging with members of the Office of Information Technology (OIT), governance committees, and personnel from across campus. This role is responsible for self-direction and organization; receives general guidance from supervisor.
Project Management: Provides project leadership for projects that meet the criteria of an IT Governance project. Lead teams through project initiation. Develop project communication plans and coordinates project work effort. Perform project risk management and create risk response strategies. Document all plans, processes, procedures, tasks, risks, issues, and lessons learned during the project. Provide status updates on all active project efforts to leadership. Liaison: Acts as a liaison between members at all levels of OIT and various internal and external entities. Gathers requirements from requests. Facilitates the entry of new project requestors and coordinates new projects based on requests. Keeps the requestor informed during all stages of completing the request. Coordinates between various OIT teams to gather, compile and submit required data in a timely manner. Serves on committees as assigned. Reporting: Coordinates the development and submission of regular surveys and reports. Runs reports from tools to share with the OIT leadership team. Records Management: Coordinates policy and records management including retention plans and public information requests. Incidental: Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in a related field. One (1) year of experience in a project team supervisory capacity or the equivalent experience.
Master’s degree in a related field. Background in public or business administration, project management, or similar coordinator role. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSANDABILITIES: Ability to contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment. Possesses a strong customer-focused mindset that demonstrates active and attentive understanding and responsive problem-solving. Ability to fully engage in effective communication and knowledge sharing to create intentional and healthy relationships and partnerships through IT and UTA. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to cultivate an atmosphere of professionalism and integrity and provide optimal solutions. Ability to explain technical matters to non-technical people. Familiar with service management frameworks such as ITIL v3 foundations. Familiar with risk management related frameworks such as COBIT, COSO, and/or NIST. Self-directed in responsive and proactive provision of collaborative solutions, services, and support to the UTA. Project management fundamentals. Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings effectively. Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Ability to effectively compile, synthesize, and present complex information in an easy-to understand written or oral presentation format. Use of personal computer and standard office equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Comfortable with Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
