Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director (Applicant Research & Strategy) for Undergraduate Admissions. Reporting to the Director of Applicant Research and Strategy, this position serves as research project manager and provides consistent support for the coordination, implementation, and execution of data-related projects and initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities and goals of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Division of Enrollment Management-New Brunswick.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Actively uses data, systems and technology (e.g., Othot analytics software, historic enrollment data, etc.) to identify and act on trends, establish benchmarks, support and optimize strategic decision-making related to recruitment, admissions, yield, scholarship awarding tactics, and other student success initiatives.
Under the guidance of the director, helps establish a framework for new and existing projects and processes related to data integration, analysis, modeling, and visualization to make data-driven insights actionable.
Determines project and system requirements, modifications, or innovations, and maintains effective working relationships through project completion and beyond.
Performs routine and semi-routine work independently within parameters for the unit and with limited review of final product.
Performs professional level work that requires comprehensive knowledge of data analysis, appropriate information systems and software, project management and the application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the organization.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, social science, or a related science field.
A minimum five (5) years experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of analytics, data analysis, report writing, and projection modeling.
A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in program/project management or administrative function that includes coordination of work and management of full time staff.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Both a statistical and applied analytical skillset.
Ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and summarize/communicate actionable recommendations.
Experience with database software, common data visualization tools, and presenting compelling narrative through the use of effective data visualizations.
Exceptional detail orientation, as well as excellent organizational, customer service, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects concurrently while working independently in a very fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
Doctoral degree in a related field and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable.
Direct experience in enrollment management and with enrollment research/analytics specifically.
Experience with Othot or other predictive analytics software.
Knowledge of database management/SQL, higher education metrics, and NCES/IPEDS data.
A strong technical aptitude and desire to keep up with the latest technological and data management advances.
