Our award-winning Knowledge Management Department has the opportunity for a Director of Knowledge Management Innovation and Solutions to join the Firm’s expanding practice. The Director of Knowledge Management Innovation and Solutions will be responsible for envisioning, developing and implementing knowledge management platforms, tools and technology solutions in support of the firm’s knowledge management strategy. This role will closely team with the firm’s broader KM team, information technology department, data analytics, finance, and HR departments, Practice Group leaders, senior management and other internal teams and will work with technology vendors to deliver KM products and solutions for both internal and external users. This position will report to the Chief Knowledge Officer.
Establish a KM platforms, tools and technology solutions strategy that aligns with and supports the IT technology strategy.
Oversee the portfolio of knowledge sharing and collaboration platforms and tools, lead team driving current and future projects to excellent execution, project completion that is consistently on time and on budget.
Identify, scope, and monitor the execution of key digital knowledge and data sharing and innovation projects.
Direct the work, priorities, and performance of senior managers, managers, analysts and / or associates who are part of the KM Firm Solutions and Client Solutions teams. Optimize the structure and capabilities of the combined team, growing team as needed to fulfill firm Knowledge objectives.
Serve as a subject matter specialist for the KM solutions team. Work closely with members of the KM team and practicing attorneys to evaluate, develop, launch, monitor, and improve KM technologies employed in the organization.
Lead multiple projects and teams (work with sponsors to define approach, scope, requirements, manage resources, issues, communications, budgets, etc.) and partner with other groups (IT, Client Services, Practice Groups, etc.) to deliver.
Ensure consistent “voice of the customer” input on all KM digital projects and investments, as well as post-project retrospectives.
Where possible, lead teams to adopt Agile development principles and to establish clear and measurable KPIs for team projects and efforts.
Monitor and report on usage statistics / analytics to inform awareness and adoption strategy and approach.
Manage and evaluate vendor relationships to ensure successful delivery of projects with reasonable cost parameters
Identify and assess new innovative technologies that address the needs of the organization and quickly pilot / prototype where appropriate
Technologies under the purview of this team to include: Intranet, Search, Client portals and related technologies, Attorney dynamic dashboards, Digital products.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study required (Business, Management, Marketing, Information Systems, Library Sciences, Journalism and/or Communications) required
10+ years of professional experience including 5+ years experience leading knowledge management or innovation teams in a top tier law firm.
Track record of delivering innovation and leading high performing teams in Agile development.
Advanced degree in related field preferred (MBA, JD, Knowledge Management, Management Information Systems, Library/Information Sciences, Organizational Behavior, or Psychology) required
Strong understanding and extensive use of knowledge management technologies, including intranet / portal management, website usability, databases and repositories, subscription management, collaborative and social software, mobile, content and document management, search engines, expertise locators, taxonomy / metadata, metrics reporting / analytics, workflow and process automation applications
Strong product and project management capabilities
