The University of Southern California is seeking a Digital Content Producer that will be responsible for the creation of all content on the (soon-to-be launched) USC Online website, a portal designed to market USCâs online graduate degrees and drive engagement with our target audience.
This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate with a wide range of roles and departments and an inherent drive to create high-quality work.Â Additionally, the successful candidate will have a keen awareness of the target audience and objectives and play the lead role in the creation of new and refreshed articles and video content that reinforces the brand and drives user engagement.
The USC Online Digital Content Producer will report to the Chief Marketing Officer for Strategic and Global Initiatives. Â As we build the team for USC Online we are looking for collaborative individuals comfortable in a start-up environment and excited by innovative ideas and dedicated to producing a compelling, best-in-class online experience.
Write, develop, edit, and publish copy and video content for USC Online and related marketing campaigns for email, social, blogs, infographics, etc.Â Â
Work closely with the CMO and webmaster to accomplish site objectives; create a content creation protocol and internal communication plan.Â
Oversee all aspects of production for USC Online, make informed recommendations for content and format.Â
Source articles and video content that can be repurposed, propose new content to be created.
Overseas all aspects of content creation, work collaboratively, efficiently and effectively with related university units.
Determine writing and editorial assignments, ensure accuracy and timely completion of deliverables.
Use a content management system that allows for team collaboration.Â Â
Monitors & track SEO performance, work with webmaster to make adjustments accordingly.
Screen, hire, and oversee independent contractors, vendors and student workers required to complete assignments.Â Set appropriate deadlines and monitorÂ performance.
Develop and manage publication calendars and ensures timely completion of publications and projects.
Assist CMO and other department leaders with special projects related to writing and editing, as needed.
Experience and skills:
5+ years experience in content writing and/or editing in the digital space
Experience producing video content
Experience sourcing and managing freelance writers
Strong understanding of SEO strategy & metrics
Proficiency in Google Analytics, WordPress
Strong attention to detail
Mastery of grammar, punctuation and spelling
Self-motivated and flexible, requires little management
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 5 years, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experienceMinimum Field of Expertise: Editing, publication management, journalism, or related field experience. Thorough knowledge of publications standards and techniques, design, printing, graphics, desktop publishing, word processing and photography. Ability to write and edit effectively at an advanced level.
