Under general to broad supervision, the Sr Network Systems Engineer advances the company mission by providing all WAN (Wide Area Network), LAN (Local Area Network) users with Network Infrastructure and consulting to meet the company's systems needs.
Individuals in this role manage and allocates infrastructure resources by monitoring and maintaining system platforms in support of CBRE and its clients' information technology operations.
Provides secondary support for network hardware and software such as web applications and wide area network's (WAN) systems. May install and maintain UNIX servers. May serve as technical lead for projects with complex requirements. May also install and administer application software and manage the middleware component.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess and evaluate current network computing infrastructure.
Design, document, test, and implement secure network services and devices.
Utilize monitoring, mapping, and alerting software to perform network management by proactively collecting data and conducting real-time analysis of the performance of the network.
Develop, maintain, and implement a proactive capacity planning model to support business decisions. Educates management on new technology offerings.
Recommends technology solutions
Evaluates software and hardware lifecycle, sets project timeline for implementation.
Conduct research, evaluate, and recommend cost effective networked solutions and new technologies to support the technology strategies of the core business
Oversees or provides technical hardware and software implementation.
Provides project management, to implement short term and long term (up to three years) projects to achieve department plans.
Detect, identify, and perform problem isolation and resolution throughout the network architecture.
Develop and maintain prescribed procedures to be followed routinely in the form of standard operating procedures.
Execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages.
Provides training for personnel, creates & enhances process documents. Keeps abreast of emerging technology trends.
Serve as escalation for networking issues that cannot be resolved by IT helpdesk.
Also supports with Remote Access (administers enterprise VPN operations software; providing support for external connections and maintaining security) and Routers and Communications lines (support and maintain TCP/IP networking protocols and network routers/switches).
Performs other duties as assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan, and supervise assignments of lower level employees .
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Information Technology or a related field of work or equivalent work experience. Requires technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Typically has 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience.
Six or more years of experience in network architecture and deployment is highly desired. Technical certifications in the specialty area preferred, such as Palo Alto, Cisco, or Microsoft.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
