AREA MANAGER, CENTRAL LAB GROUP , Facilities-Campus Services and Maintenance , to oversee the maintenance of a portfolio of physical buildings, address existing/new issues, and help improve stewardship by coordinating and facilitating the proactive identification of issues and applying preventive maintenance strategies. A key building in the portfolio includes MIT.nano, a 214,000 gsf state-of-the-art laboratory complex supporting more than 100,000 sf of laboratory space. Will develop and ensure facilities-related needs are met; serve as liaison with Facilities' repair teams/tradespersons, supervisors, managers and DLCs (departments, labs and centers); and ensure effective communication between Facilities Engineering, Capital Projects, Planning, Capital Renewal, Repair and Maintenance, Utilities, Campus Services, and EHS (Environment, Health and Safety). Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or facilities management; ten years' direct relevant work experience; experience managing across a range of facilities management challenges in a large repair and maintenance environment and overseeing a significant budget in a multi-building setting such as an institutional or corporate environment; working knowledge of Massachusetts' building and licensing code; ability to direct and converse technically with engineers and architects regarding campus utility systems for electricity, steam, water, sewer, and the maintenance, operation, design, and construction of campus buildings; strong computer skills; excellent customer service, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills; ability to negotiate, gain consensus, and lead in a complex, collaborative environment; thorough knowledge of maintenance equipment operation and design and leading-edge methods of providing maintenance services; demonstrated leadership skills; and ability to traverse the campus for extended periods.
