Demonstrated experience providing administrative support for grant-funded projects, including the use of Workday and other ISU software applications. Graphic design experience in the development of websites and promotional materials. Evidence of event management and planning. Familiarity or proficiency with games (such as game play, involvement in game communities, or participation in game events).Â
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Game2Work project at Iowa State University seeks applications for a part-time (approximately 10 hours/week) Administrative Specialist I to support the work of a diverse group of faculty and staff across campus. This position will support project team members through administrative duties, graphic design services, event planning, and coordination of an online community. Â
The long-term goal of Game2Work is to strengthen the 21st century work and learning skills of the digital generation through rapid design, development, and research of serious games with the potential to advance the frontiers of knowledge. We seek to answer questions on the learning and skills developed through gaming, the interactions between human and technology, and the societal impacts of gaming for the digital generation. In comparison with other research centers at US universities, Game2Work at ISU will be the only university with a core team of faculty that work together through the development process, have the ability to test in different environments, and apply results directly to the learning community. Â
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for gaming and strong organizational skills. A willingness to facilitate online discussions and maintain a positive environment is necessary. Tasks may include academic journal search, creation of annual reports, and coordination of testing locations. The University is in the process of implementing a new classification and compensation structure. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2020. Any P&S employee hired through this posting may be assigned a new title and associated pay grade upon the employment start date (and after the initial offer), commensurate with qualifications required for the position. The duties and responsibilities of the posted position, in addition to compensation offered, will not be affected by this process.
