You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as an Occupational Therapist.
Your compassion is tangible: patients feel it in the hand they hold. Families feel it in your prayers. Colleagues feel it in your support.
You know when to move quickly. When to sit quietly. When to laugh loudly.
Youâ™re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.
St. Maryâ™s Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 346-bed regional medical center is in Grand Junction, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Our mission is to bring health and hope to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other.
Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, weâ™ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.
Together weâ™ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. Weâ™ll honor each otherâ™s dignity and surpass the standards we set. Weâ™ll encourage joy, demand safety and take pride in our integrity.
Weâ™ll laugh at each otherâ™s jokes (even the bad ones). Weâ™ll hello and high five. Weâ™ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.
Weâ™re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.
As an Occupational Therapist you need to know how to:

Evaluate patient upon initial encounter to determine need for occupational therapy intervention and make referrals to other treatment team members as deemed appropriate.
Plan occupational therapy treatment program for each patient, based upon interpretation of evaluation results; interpret evaluation findings for patient, family, and treatment team members.
Develop realistic goals with patient input; explain treatment plan and goals to patient.
Implement treatment or supervise treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, or occupational therapy student. Delegate routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate.
Terminate occupational therapy services when patient has attained maximum benefit from occupational therapy; provide in-service education to members of treatment team to ensure follow-through of treatment program.
Evaluate, record and report on patientsâ™ progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Communicate effectively with physician, other members of rehabilitation team and others as indicated regarding treatment plan and patient response to plan.
Complete all required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Conduct and participate in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings. Participate in continuing education program to ensure appropriate units are attained for maintenance of State license. Attend meetings as required.
