The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.
We are seeking a Senior Animation Designer to join Professor Jessica Hodgins' research group. In this role, you will plan and execute multi-media and/or visualization projects from start to finish meeting customer needs on time and within budget. You will act as a project manager for multiple concurrent projects.
Core responsibilities will include:
Researching and determining standard methodology to be used in completing assigned projects
Managing projects and directly advising with clients to meet multi-media and/or visualization needs. Influencing overall artistic direction of projects
Establishing budgets for projects; acting as a liaison with other vendors and organizations on project-related issues
Delegating work to project team members including external consultants
Responsible for planning and coordinating a wide range of multi-media projects from planning through execution. Multiple projects may be concurrent
Performing related work as assigned
Acting as a resource for junior staff or other university personnel
Developing and implementing new multi-media methodologies
Assessing efficiency of project work plans and resulting products
Identifying success and areas for improvement and uses this information to improve future project processes
Providing leadership in areas of technical and creative development for department
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent in education and work experience required
In-depth knowledge of graphic-design equipment tools and techniques and a minimum of four years related experience required
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and other graphic design applications
Knowledge of graphic design methodologies
