We have an outstanding opportunity for a Recruitment Specialist who will work with the Assistant Director of Academic Programs and the Academic Program Manager to oversee the ambitious recruitment program for the MS in Technology Innovation (MSTI), and its connected devices and robotics tracks. We are seeking a motivated individual who is adept at working in a dynamic and collaborative work environment and is capable of working independently and exercising independent judgement. The individual in this position must develop a deep understanding of the program and communicate effectively with students and colleagues of widely varying academic backgrounds, work experiences, and nationalities.
The Recruiting Specialist will administer MSTI recruiting activities and events, and must be available evenings and weekends when needed. Regular domestic travel, occasional international travel, and local commutes between the UW campus in Seattle and the Steve Ballmer Building in Bellevue are expected.
Specific duties include:
Outreach & Recruitment:
•Execute strategies for prospective student engagement including – but not limited to – information sessions, applications workshop, special recruiting events, social media and program website. •Present information sessions and application workshops to prospective students. Ensure materials are up-to-date, professional, relevant, and aligned with brand standards. •Represent the graduate program at career fairs, recruiting events and meetings. •Manage the prospective student Visit Day program. •Meet with candidates via drop-in or appointments, Skype, phone or email. •Respond to a high volume of inquiries about topics such as program fees, financial aid, curriculum, career services provided, informational events, application process, etc. •Advise prospective students on the MSTI program – prerequisites, minimum requirements, curriculum, program fit, and preparation of application materials. •Advise student tour guides on how to promote GIX, share their experiences and give advice to prospective students participating in the Visit Day program. •Oversee marketing campaigns and prospective student communication plans, including email newsletters, postcard mailings, and other communications as needed. Manage CRM and be responsible for data integrity. •Work closely with the MSTI Assistant Director to explore ways to include recruitment in alumni events. •Seek out new venues for reaching potential students and develop relationships with key stakeholders •Develop and strengthen existing relationships and pipelines •Develop and manage annual recruitment plan to promote the program locally, regionally and nationally •Respond to inquiries, enter and track data, and report on conversions •Collaborate with teams and programs across campus in support of recruitment and retention •Plan and staff student recruitment activities •Represent program at public events, career fairs, recruiting events, conferences •Coordinate individual and group visits from prospective students •Energize and help coordinate faculty, alumni and student involvement in recruitment efforts (internal and external) •Support other department staff in conducting activities at both on-campus (including annual prospective student visit days) and off-site locations.
•Draft and create content, news stories, and photos for program website and social media and work with marketing manager to optimize communication tools for MSTI program promotion. •Create and update promotional materials – presentations/webinars, displays, flyers, scripts, etc. and coordinate on their execution with marketing staff. •Promote the program via news stories and photos on social media, in coordination with marketing staff. •Meet proactively with faculty and staff to obtain information and leads on content creation, prioritizing communications of student projects, awards and presentations; generate student testimonials and profiles. •Build relationships and act as liaison with technology associations and organizations locally, regionally and nationally, as well as other relevant units on campus.
•Develop reports evaluating performance and effectiveness of recruiting events and activities. •Participate in Academic Team meetings and other relevant committees and teams as assigned. •Advise program leadership on budget needs. •Oversee social media student employee or other employees hired to support recruiting. •Attend, participate in, and/or support MSTI program events (e.g., orientation, visit day, graduation). Other duties as assigned.
•Master’s degree in communications, marketing, business, English, education, or related field and 2 years of experience in student recruitment and/or program promotion and communications (or equivalent Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience) •Demonstrated knowledge of the importance of and commitment to increasing the number of diverse student applicants. •Experience implementing marketing and/or communications strategies, plans and materials •Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects. •Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work professionally, productively, and collegially with a broad range of individuals, from prospective and current students to faculty, leaders on campus, and professionals in the public health practice and health services research fields •Excellent writing and editing skills •Strong public presentation skills •Strong eye for detail and high standards of accuracy •Proficiency with the MS Office
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
•Experience working with online degrees, preferably within a marketing, student recruitment and/or student services capacity •Experience supporting social media efforts •Experience with web-based conferencing/meeting technologies •Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite •Proficiency with basic photo editing and graphic design
Conditions of Employment:
•This position requires off-site travel, including regular overnight and out-of-state travel, to recruitment events. •This position must be able to work flexible hours as necessary due to work demands.
