Serve as the Chief Information Technology Officer and simulation and modeling expert for the Department of Systems Engineering (DSE).
Act as the leading technical authority responsible for the direction, management, and execution of the department's Modeling and Simulation Program and laboratories.
Maintain four laboratories (Combat Simulation Lab, Systems Methodology and Design Lab, Information Visualization Lab and the Integration and Capabilities Analysis Lab).
Maintain supervisory oversight of the operation and management of the department's Secret Internet Protocol Router lab access, information technology support, and hardware availability.
Overall supervisory responsibility of information technology and administrative staffs. Integrate the staff workload to ensure balance and cohesion among the members.
Direct the overall workflow and document control systems, assign projects and programs to subordinates, establish priority and suspense actions.
Plan, develop, evaluate, and revise curricular support for the department pertaining to modeling and simulation.
Design, conduct, and manage comprehensive management studies to recommend upgrades and improvements to training models and simulations used within DSE laboratories and research centers.
Develop tactical and analytical scenarios; and train cadets, staff and faculty in mathematical modeling and simulation.
Manage program missions and translate military requirements into model specifications and simulation scenarios.
Develop strategies for integrating modeling and simulation into current and developing DSE curriculum.
Lead and influence comprehensive studies to identify and propose solutions to simulations model deficiencies.
Recommend hardware and software procurement and maintenance policies which affect engineering curricula and department outreach efforts.
Assist faculty in developing modeling and simulation strategies and digital tactics, techniques, and procedures through experimentation and assistance visits.
Prioritize information technology and laboratory requirements for the department's sustainment efforts to allocate available funding for information technology and laboratory requirements.
Ensure that support services comply with established program objectives, policies, procedures, and any existing support services contracts.
Initiate and track facility work orders for labs, classrooms and DSE office areas with responsibility for overall coordination of facility maintenance.
Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) designing and/or developing mathematical, statistical, or other related scientific methods and techniques; 2) assisting in developing modeling and/or simulation strategies or requirements; 3) designing, testing, and/or integrating code to improve existing models and simulations or to develop requirements for new models and simulations; and, 4) resolving modeling and simulation issues such as computing, network delivery, system compatibility, or processing. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
