Reporting to the CO-HEADS OF SCHOOL, the Director of Strategic Partnerships is a member of the senior staff, and works closely with the leadership of the Board of Trustees.
The Director manages advancement efforts as well as communication and marketing for internal and external constituents, furthering the mission and sustainability of St. Joseph Preparatory High School. This position will also work closely with the Admissions Office to coordinate recruitment and marketing efforts related to student enrollment.

The Director of Strategic Partnerships will be an integral part of the school’s continued growth and success. As such, the director will play a significant role in:
Coordination of the external and internal marketing efforts and initiatives that attract and retain donors and community partners as well as corporate support.
Development and implementation of strategic fundraising and marketing ideas.
Create research agenda to better understand alumni engagement in St. Joseph Prep and to learn what attracts prospective donors to an organization.
Building, maintenance and encouragement of relationships with local community organizations, including businesses, parishes, and local foundations.
Identification of new opportunities for outreach, particularly within downtown and greater Boston.
Management of advancement team, communications & marketing team, and collaborative approach between all teams, including the admissions office, working on external relationships and communications.
Directs all advancement efforts of the school, including both fundraising and engagement of key constituent groups and sets strategy for the four-member advancement team, made up of the Assistant Director of Advancement, Alumni Director, Grants Manager, and Database Administrator.
In conjunction with school leadership and the advancement committee of the Board, sets strategic fundraising goals through new major gift and planned gift programs; redefined annual fund program; grant-making opportunities; high-level fundraising and engagement events.
Sets strategy, in partnership with Advancement Team, to implement programs and work towards goals. This includes but is not limited to oversight of prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, gift processing, acknowledgments, and stewardship.
Sets visit and ask goals for major gift program. Leads in strategy for successful cultivation and solicitation of prospects as Major Gift Officer with the Co-Heads of School.
Maintains his/her own portfolio of major gift prospects and commits to consistent meetings with donors averaging 25 visits per year.
Directs Assistant Director of Advancement in annual fund strategy through successfully growing dollars and donors among alumni, parents, and the greater SJP community. Oversee the development of an engaged parent group to assist in fundraising activities.
Develops corporate and foundation pipeline ensuring growth of grant-making partnerships, timeliness of grant applications, and stewardship of current and new corporate and foundation partners.
Explore, develop, and employ new multi-channel fundraising strategies to increase revenue and donor participation, while building on the success of current programs.
Along with Co-Heads of School, partners with the Board of Trustees in fostering community relationships among those constituent groups most supportive of SJP’s growth.
Works to create and support a culture of philanthropy within the school community, including targeted growth in alumni, parent, faculty/staff, and student participation.
Develops annual advancement plan, including processes and procedures for advancement operations, budget, key goals and objectives, and metrics for fundraising.
Serves on the School’s Executive Team.
Communications and Marketing Responsibilities
Sets strategic vision for Communications and Marketing as the external face of the school, ensuring cohesive partnership between Advancement, Admissions and the Co-Heads of School. Leads an experienced team of a web designer, digital marketing, social media platform and brand writer.
Manage the integrity of school brand, message, and other external communications impacting SJP’s image and reputation.
Ensure all internal and external communications, including e-communications to parents and alumni, website, and social media follow brand protocols.
Set and maintain professional writing and design standards for all school communication.
Support communications and marketing team on successful delivery of: a.) Print publications including school newsletters/magazine/viewbook, marketing materials, brochures, and direct mail pieces. b.) Vibrant social media platforms that are updated regularly celebrating school news and the St. Joseph Prep Community. c.) Media relations including advertising and press releases in local newspapers and digital media particularly focused on coverage of school events and success stories.
5-7 years of experience in advancement is required.
Educational fundraising/management, volunteer management, and board experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Ability to appreciate and communicate a passion for Catholic education, understanding of the values of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston.
Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in developing and accomplishing organizational goals.
Ability to recruit, to build, and retain a team; effectively recruit and manage volunteers.
Superior communication skills, ability to conceptualize and execute strategic plans, the ability to interact confidently and effectively with school staff, families, alumni, donors, trustees, school administration, and the media.
Evidence of effectiveness in building and sustaining relationships with donors and internal teams.
Experience with fundraising databases required; Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
