The Director, Operational Improvement defines the Performance Advisory Office’s productivity, labor management and process improvement strategy with the System Vice President. They are responsible for leading a team of Ops Improvement Specialist to build and execute productivity targets and drive continuous improvement activities at hospitals and medical group. Effective labor management drives improved quality and service, better team member engagement and reduced cost. Labor cost management support includes detailed workload measurement and analysis, internal and external productivity benchmarking and target setting, front-line management training and coaching, and targeted intervention projects to rapidly improve productivity performance through improved workload management and implementation of proactive day-to-day management practices.
Creates, develops, monitors and improves labor/productivity benchmarks, measures and standards across Baptist Health System
Lead a team of 9 on-site/hospital Ops Improvement Specialists
Provide training and education to help translate productivity measures, data and actions to site/hospital leaders and front-line management
Works and partners with hospital and system leadership to identify and deploy continuous improvement initiative and opportunities to drive labor/productivity efficiencies to achieve system/hospital goals and 2024 shared vision.
Maintains a consistent tracking and measurement infrastructure to ensure accuracy with regard to trending.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Previous management role overseeing hospital or healthcare system operations, productivity or continuous improvement .
Demonstrated experience with consulting, developing, facilitating and leading strategic large scale projects to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving methodologies, continuous improvement methods, project management methods and analytical tools and methodologies.
Understanding of healthcare FTE and productivity standards and benchmarking
Advance analytical skills desired.
Experience with labor management systems.
Must be able to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
Proven trusted advisory within organizations with ability to influence leaders on key decisions with willingness to be transparent about delivery issues.
Must be able to travel 25% of the time
Bachelor's degree in related field including: Business, Finance, Organizational Psychology or Engineering. | Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MS) preferred.
7 years of related work experience
At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from a credible organization. | Black Belt preferred.
