HBS seeks a Research Associate to partner closely with a faculty member (and collaborating faculty research team) in the Organizational Behavior unit for one year or more, starting this summer (start date flexible). The RA will focus on an assortment of qualitative inductive research projects including one major project around what can be learned from the move to virtual work and the shifting nature of work.
Working closely with teams in a professional service firm, the Research Associate will observe and capture findings from this intense virtual working period, and apply this knowledge to the creation of an improved
Advanced degree in organizational behavior, industrial organizational psychology, management, or related field required. Minimum of two years of relevant research or work experience required.
Project management experience, strong organizational skills, and proven ability to work independently and creatively. It is helpful if the individual has relevant experience in consulting and/or corporate/private industry.
Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) are a must. Strong skills related to the Microsoft Office Suite are expected.
Indication of independent research experience and/or applied experience. Evidence of prior high-quality, original academic writing required. Ability to read academic, subject-specific information and write a reasoned and thoughtful analysis necessary.
Proven ability to work independently and creatively. This position requires an individual capable of consistent use of discretion, judgment, and initiative. The candidate must have extremely high standards in terms of quality of work, attention to detail, strong organization skills, and absolute commitment to task completion. Ability to balance multiple tasks and shifting priorities under tight deadlines at an accelerated pace when necessary.
Diplomatic skills, comfort in interacting with prominent individuals, and grace under pressure are essential. It is helpful if the candidate is familiar with navigating a complex organization, such as Harvard Business School.
