Job Summary The Caltech Library seeks an innovative and collaborative Access and E-Resources Services Librarian who will oversee access to and management of electronic resources and course reserves services at the Caltech Library. Under the supervision of the Head of Access and Collection Services (ACS), this position will be responsible for a variety of library access and e-resource services, including but not limited to managing the full life-cycle of course reserve requests and all electronic resources provided by the Caltech Library. Additionally, the incumbent will provide support to DocuServe, circulation services, and adaptive services. The Access and E-Resources Services Librarian provides administrative back-up for the Access and Collection Services department in the absence of the Head of ACS.
The incumbent prioritizes a user-centered approach to all aspects of access services and provides a holistic approach to improving user experience for the library. The Access and E-Resources Services Librarian performs a variety of operational duties involving library systems and procedures to provide access to the collection and assists patrons in the use of library resources and services both in person and online. Primary responsibilities include supervision and policy development for course reserve services and all aspects of e-resources services, copyright guidance to the instructional community, and participation in assessment and outreach projects.

Job Summary - Manage all aspects of course reserves services for the Caltech Library, including physical and digital course materials, and the policies and systems related to these services. - Develop the course reserve collection with support from Research Services librarians. - Manage all aspects of e-resources access for Caltech Library, including managing the ERM and OpenURL link resolver systems. - Identify and implement new approaches to electronic resource linking and accessibility and tools for electronic resources management. - Maintain awareness of current trends in policy, practices, and technologies as they pertain to access services, inter-library loan, document delivery, user experience, electronic resources management, and academic librarianship in general. - Gather usage statistics and other assessment data for physical and electronic resources and prepare various reports using those statistics. - Manage data analysis projects. - Suggest, coordinate, and facilitate user engagement initiatives geared towards improving user services. - Monitor trends and recommend emerging technologies for resource sharing and copyright management with the Head of ACS to strategically discover, plan, and improve library services in light of evolving technologies, patron experiences, and business opportunities. - Communicate and work effectively with librarians and staff across Library units to improve and coordinate services. - Engage in Library, Institute, and professional service and development. - Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications - Graduate degree in a relevant program. - 1 year of related library work experience. - Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and data analysis skills. - Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, colleagues, and students. - Familiarity with trends and best practices in e-resources management.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in library and/or information studies. - 3 or more years of library experience in an access services role. - Experience working in a customer service setting. - Experience working with e-resources technologies.
