Responsibilities Information Services accomplishes planning and implementation activities to provide hardware and software systems serving UCDHS's needs in both institutional requirements and technological capabilities. This position will provide service and support for the Hewlett Packard suite of software tools used internally by UCDHS IT. This suite of tools encompasses support for logging, tracking and resolving support requests, monitoring of vital IT systems, asset database management and several other integrated tools. There will be a substantial need for report generation on a variety of metrics.
Work is performed under general direction of the Application Development Manager. Work and decisions are reviewed in terms of meeting objectives when performed within the accepted parameters of UCD/UCDHS policies and procedures and the general guidelines of the department. However, innovative solutions to application problems are discussed with and approved by the Application Development Manager, particularly those that affect the accountability of the unit and coordination of work. Incumbent interacts with the Manager and Supervisors who oversee the day to day operation of the 24/7/365 Operations Center.
Familiar with the technical aspects of the ServiceNow platform, including tables, forms, lists, and related structures.
Superb technical skills with installation, configuring, and management of the ServiceNow platform and applications.
Superb analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Infrastructure and Application development experience, baseline support experience, demonstrated customer communication skills, and excellent interpersonal communications.
Working knowledge of system technologies, such as WMI, SNMP, TCIP, and Shell, for setting up device discovery for the ServiceNow CMDB.
Previous experience with IT Service Management deployment or initiatives would be beneficial.
Good team leadership and management skills.
ITIL Foundation certified or equivalent experience.
Experience with Project Lifecycle Methodology's.
Experience developing and supporting tools and/or applications.
Experience working with RBDMS and creating advanced SQL.
Excellent knowledge of database concepts.
Excellent debugging, problem solving and testing skills are imperative, and the incumbent must be a good team player and able to work with little direction, provide work estimates and deliver challenging, complex, stable, and maintainable projects on schedule.
Excellent analytical skills to develop and/or comprehend complex technical, statistical, and clinical research and fiscal information; ability to absorb information to make timely and sound decisions.
Experienced in working in a collaborative environment; and experienced with team leadership/direction.
Demonstrated experience in creating and presenting oral and written material to small and large groups.

Experience planning, organize, direct and coordinate training sessions.
Experience working in a changing environment and handling multiple large complex projects and tasks efficiently.
Experience performing statistical analyses and present data in clear and concise report format.
Experience using logic and flow diagrams to describe the functional processes of a system that both end users, as well as, programmers can understand.
Comprehensive understanding of the capabilities, limitations and challenges of computer hardware/software applications and integration of multiple systems.
Ability to participate in the composition, submittal and scoring of RFQs, RFIs and RFPs inclusive of vendor demonstrations and final selection process.
Ability to integrate UCDHS goals, objectives, commitments and projections within a service-oriented health care environment.
Analytical skills required to effectively understand complex networks; to manage administrative and fiscal information; and to comprehend such information to make timely and sound decisions.
Planning skills to analyze goals and objectives based on current and potential developmental projects; to make accurate short-and long-term projections; to establish resource requirements; and to secure potential funding to meet requirements.

Must be able to work extra hours (nights and weekends) if important development is behind schedule or the correction of problems with operational systems is considered critical. Must have a valid California Driver's License. Must speak, hear and see well enough to perform system configurations and telephone consulting. Must be available for 24-hour a day on-call rotation.
