A GIS Technician position at LES is not your typical desk job. GIS Technicians at LES have the opportunity to get away from their cubicles to see their projects in the field on a weekly basis. With LES being a rate-payer owned public utility located in Lincoln, Nebraska, all site visits are just a short drive from the office; no need to worry about overnight stays or being away from family and friends.

Modifies engineering construction drawings per field notes, records, and databases utilizing LES standards and procedures. Reports any design or record discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
Inspects, collects, and verifies data and labels electrical facilities for use with GIS/CAD system records per LES procedures. Completion of these duties requires the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment or entering electrical substations with provided training.
Project Management - Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, acquires project resources, coordinates projects throughout company, monitors project progress, and manages multiple projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in related field, and
Two years of GIS/CAD or drafting experience, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
