Reporting to the Associate Director, Faculty Technology or the Director of EdTech (as required), the instructional technologist collaborates as a member of a team of instructional technologists on the Digital Scholarship and Faculty Innovation team to support Hofstra University Faculty in the integration of technology in their teaching, scholarship and research. The instructional technologist may be assigned to collaborate with any and all members of the academic community across the array of academic disciplines researched or offered at Hofstra University for credit or non-credit, at the undergraduate or graduate levels. The rapidly evolving nature of this technology role requires a strong technical acumen, rigorous and effective documentation and organization skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt and learn as the field changes. The position may require evening or weekend work in alignment with the schedule and availability of faculty and at the direction of the department. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: â€¢Performing highly technical work independently or as part of a team of technical and non-technical individuals in support of faculty, department or school-based initiatives to integrate hardware and/or software technology into teaching, scholarship and research. â€¢Developing and maintaining without interruption a strong working relationship with all colleagues including all members of EdTech, other administrative and staff employees, students, and faculty members. â€¢Specify, design, estimate cost, estimate time requirements, plan, and document the implementation of solutions designed to meet the teaching, scholarship, and research requirements of faculty. â€¢Support faculty in the use of technological solutions for teaching, scholarship, and research. This includes instructing faculty, students, and others in the use of technology as needed. â€¢Maintain a strong theoretical and working knowledge of current trends and practices in education and research across the higher education landscape and periodically (as assigned) deliver papers, talks, and informal information sessions on those trends. â€¢Respond rapidly to faculty requests for collaboration and support with an affirming, positive and â€œcan-doâ€� approach. â€¢Adhere to all university policy and standards of practice. â€¢Attend staff meetings and participate in training programs, seminars, classes as assigned. â€¢Provide excellent customer service. â€¢Perform other related duties as assigned.
