Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Research Project Assistant which will be reporting to the principal investigator (PI) at the for the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN) within the College of Arts & Sciences. The Research Project Assistant; under the direction of the PI, effectively and efficiently quantifies research data analysis from Rapid Instructed Task Learning study, which focuses on analysis of cognitive control. The person in this role effectively uses a variety of techniques, applies network science, computational modeling, and machine learning approaches to data collected from living human brain. The duties of the Research Project Assistant include but are not limited to: -Assists in development of data collection protocols and Institutional Review Board (IRB) packages. -Collects data and analyzes fMRI and behavioral studies, including, but not limited to, developing various behavioral testing software. -Assists with development of new research study software programs and applications and updates code for existing software for cognitive and behavioral assessments. -Assists with subject recruitment and scheduling. Prepares research briefs from data collection and research project materials, writing for research reports and presentations. -Assists PI with grant proposals and project management.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research experience, and knowledge of general principles and practices within a discipline and ability to use that knowledge for practical application.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skills are normally acquired through an accumulation of work experiences and/or specific work related training programs. Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy.
Requires the ability to collaborate as part of a team. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Requires relevant training and certification, including IRB certification. Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Requires computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and knowledge or proficiency in tools for quantitative and qualitative analysis and programming, including Matlab, Python, C++, Java Script, and SQL.
Knowledge of software design and applications; Human Subject Certification; Level 1 and Level 2 fMRI training; and experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
Bachelor's degree and minimum of one year of relevant experience in behavioral and cognitive research studies.
Applicant must be comfortable using computers and have familiarity with MS Office Suite. Applicant will also use tools for quantitative and qualitative analysis and programming, including, but not limited to, Matlab, Python, C++, Java Script, and SQL. Will use fMRI equipment. Must know, use, and/or learn any and all specialized materials, equipment, and software needed to support effective and efficient performance in position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds. Laboratory environment. Relevant safety procedures. Adherence to relevant policies and regulations required.
