We are seeking 3 dedicated Contact Tracers to assist us in our efforts to limit the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Gonzaga University (GU) campus community. This position is an indirect report to the COVID-19 Coordinator and a direct report to the Director of Health and Counseling Services. The Contract Tracers will trace and monitor contacts of laboratory confirmed positive COVID-19 people, notifying individuals of their exposure to COVID-19. Provide guidance and support to contacts regarding quarantine. Help to ensure the safe, sustainable and effective quarantine of contacts to prevent additional transmission of COVID-19. Utilize digital tools that aid in the contact tracing process and expand reach and efficacy of contact tracers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with cultural sensitivity, and interviewing skills such that they can build and maintain trust with contacts
Excellent interpersonal skills to assist distressed individuals from different cultural backgrounds
Understanding of and ability to explain in plain language, the medical terms and principles of exposure, infection, infectious period, potentially infectious interactions, symptoms of disease, pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic infection
Proficiency in virtual meeting software
Microsoft Word and Excel skills to include the ability to open, close, create, edit and save documents
Reliable access to a telephone, computer and internet connection
Maintain the privacy and confidentiality rights at all times
Knowledge of public health practices related to case investigation, contact tracing, and case coordination preferred
