Georgia Public Broadcasting is looking for a Copy Editor to work on a new journalism initiative that focuses on digital newsgathering and content along with live radio coverage from the GPB Newsroom and NPR. GPB is increasing coverage of public policy and the impact of those policies on citizens throughout the state of Georgia. The ideal candidate will contribute to the overall content of the newsroom and be quick on their feet with strong editorial skills and the ability to publish content under tight deadlines in a growing and evolving newsroom. We are looking for a journalist with top 10 market experience who is an expert at checking text for style and adherence to newsroom editorial policy. This journalism initiative is led by the Vice President of News, Marylynn Ryan. This is a two year grant funded position and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. GPB is a top-10 radio market station.
Candidate Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. • Must be skilled at AP style with a keen eye for catching grammatical and spelling errors; checking text for style and adhering to newsroom editorial policy. • Requires a creative mind for writing headlines and for framing editorial material that effectively represent the story. • Must be detail oriented and an expert at checking material for accuracy. • Excellent proofreading and attention to detail. • Must be an excellent writer and have strong editorial skills. • Must be comfortable working under tight deadlines. • Work for a growing and evolving news organization in the GPB Newsroom.
