Job Summary: Owensboro Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time instructor with a mutli-dsciplined background in engineering, electronics, and electrical technology. The instructor would teach in both the Electrical Technology and Engineering and Electronics Technology programs within the Manufacturing and Skilled Trades Department. Teaching assignments may include such course as Circuits I, Circuits II, Devices I, Devices II, Digital I, Digital II, Fluid Power, Programmable Logic Controllers, Motor Controls, and Instrumentation.
Essential duties and responsibilities: The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide instruction in the areas of direct current circuits, alternating current circuits, semiconductor device circuits, rectifiers, amplifiers, oscillators, SCRs, digital circuits, logic gates, multiplexers, flip-flops, timers, instrumentation sensors, transducers, op-amps, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and human to machine interfaces.
Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and issues in the field.
Collaborate with business and industry for short-term training needs, internship placement, curriculum alignment, program advisement, and reporting/assessing student achievement.
Provide academic advising and career-related counseling for students.
Engage in recruitment and retention activities through programming at secondary schools, community partners, and professional organizations; with a concentrated focus on the adult learner population.
Participate in faculty professional development activities to include employer sponsored training.
Assignment may include some evening, weekend, online, in person, and/or off-campus courses. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, working with a diverse population, and the community and technical college mission.
Qualifications: Associates degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering and Electronics Technology with 3 years of applicable work experience. Certified Electronic Technician or Licensed Journeyman Electrician preferred.
