Dunwoody College of Technology currently has the need for an Adjunct Instructor within its Graphic Design program.
This instructor will be responsible for delivering and maintaining curriculum in line with current industry standards and practices. The course will be taught in a hybrid manner, with lecture classes being online. The lab portion of the class will meet one day per week, with half the students meeting 9:00 – 12:00 and the other half from 12:30 to 3:30. The successful candidate will have the ability to disseminate the technical information required to the students along with applying the candidate’s own industry experiences to reinforce the prevalent theories in the program.
Course Name: GRDP1150 Course Description: Explore basic design principles and processes including research, creative problem solving, design workflows, and production practices; includes examining typography, drawing, layout and composition using industry standard software. Course Name: GRDP2120 Course Description: Explore digital tools for creating and editing graphics and images used in web sites. Model the professional practice of web site graphic design from concept exploration to final pixel based mock-ups. SPECIFIC POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions.
Creates a positive learning environment.
Monitors, assesses and advises learners on technical and academic progress and performance.
Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction.
Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction.
Assists in the recruitment, advising, and placement of learners.
Other duties as assigned.
Associates degree in related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years industry experience is required at a minimum
Strong digital print background
Prefer production experience with analog print processes and packaging/retail display
Working knowledge of current version of Adobe Creative Suite.
Working knowledge of Apple Macintosh operating system.
Industry credentials and certifications, as necessary by individual course content
Membership or involvement in related industry organizations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work well with others in an academic environment
