POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Vice President, Real Estate ï¿½ Chief Real Estate Officer, the Senior Director, Project Management will oversee the project management, design & construction and facility/infrastructure capital planning activities of Tenet Healthcare and its affiliates. This person will be accountable for participating in the development of a strategic vision, delivery team, and the implementation of a capital project management platform that will lead the industry. There will be a focus on successful implementation of the capital plan, innovative design and construction solutions (such as IPD and other alternative delivery methodologies) and the modernization our facility infrastructure. The project implementation processes will involve the full project life cycle to include: assessments, project planning, approvals, budgeting, team assembly and management, project and cash flow management, and operationalization. Working with the real estate, strategy, and finance teams he/she will develop a long range capital planning tool kit and protocols to guide the appropriate planning, selection, and implementation of capital projects throughout the network. In support of the capital planning process he/she will lead the development of strategic campus master plans; along with the real estate team, the strategy team and the local strategy officers. As an expert in state of the art delivery methodologies, engineering systems, and codes they represent Tenet in their relationships with key jurisdictional entities.
In partnership with the real estate facility management / plant operations teams the Senior Director will develop and implement a project prioritization process to guide the selection of business initiative, infrastructure and facility needs projects for the enterprise. The Senior Director will lead the development of new processes, procedures, and protocols for the successful implementation of our capital projects; this will involve the implementation of a new project management software solution to be deployed across the enterprise.
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: In conjunction with the Vice President, Real Estate, the Senior Director, Project Management will be responsible for developing and leading a high performing remote project management team, including performance management. He/she will create and administer personal and professional development plans for each team member, with a focus on mentoring and developing each individual and the team. They will establish a 3rd party contracting strategy for each project category, which includes the responsibility for establishing parameters for engaging the current Real Estate partners in the delivery of project management assignments. This includes managing the engagements with the team including resourcing, performance expectations, and reimbursement.

With the Vice President, Real Estate, develop a strategic campus master planning and facility conditions assessment strategy for all owned/controlled assets. This will include an RFP process to select key partners for the delivery of these plans, leveraging our national buying power.
-Support the development of an Infrastructure Master Plan by the POM teams. -Incorporate the results with the campus master plans and the multi-year system wide capital planning.
Develop a team structure that combines existing team members, new hires and the use of 3rd party firms in the delivery of the capital project management assignments in the MOB, Ambulatory, Acute and Infrastructure settings. Develop innovative delivery methodologies that align with the industry best practices, focused on delivering the best value for every project/program (i.e. IPD).
With the Vice Presidents of Real Estate, Strategy, and Finance, develop a multi-year, system wide capital planning structure. Incorporate maintenance, infrastructure, and strategic business initiative needs. Develop a project prioritization process for the recommendation and approval of projects within the Capital Allocation process.
-Create a Phase Gating process using a combination of process and software tools for managing the development and approval of a capital project (maintenance, infrastructure, or business initiative). Include intake, feasibility, planning, and implementation.
Participate in the Capital Allocation Committee meeting representing the status of the capital projects in process as well as the initiatives moving through the phase gating process.
Participate in the final selection of a project management and capital planning software platform.
-Lead the deployment of the project management software, ensure use and compliance with the tool by all stakeholders and users.
Lead the development of an updated Project Management playbook and tool kit, introduce the program and train the use. Monitor adherence of all stakeholders.
With the Vice President, Real Estate and the Senior Director, Plant Operations develop system wide sustainability and energy management programs. Support program implementation to meet the system goals of utility reduction and costs savings.
Technical leader understanding infrastructure and engineering systems; integrating system knowledge into project prioritizations Align system requirements for master plans, facility upgrades, and business initiatives; ensure business initiatives contain all necessary system requirements Maintains code expertise understanding how code changes impact our facilities and the viability of our business enterprise.
Key focus on states with a large Tenet presence and those with significant regulatory challenges including CA (OSHPD) and FL (AHCA).
Maintain understanding of code issues governing disaster management including hurricanes, earthquakes, and wild fires.
Represent the corporation in high-level negotiations with state, city and county officials concerning facilities oversight, real estate construction planning, zoning, jurisdictional matters, and other construction issues.
Ensure that the project directors sets, monitors and maintains the project goals, objectives, limitations, resources and defined stakeholders in a project charter for the governance of each project.
Provide oversight and approval of the team assembly (contractors, design firms, and consultants) managed by the project directors ï¿½ including the process for qualifications, bidding process, contract review, and selection recommendation to leadership.
-Lead the identification and sourcing of internal and external resources and stakeholders as needed for the project.
Manage identified project risks with the assigned project director and managers on each assignment. Ensure that issues and risks are properly escalated and resolved.
Sign off and approve the master program/project budget and schedule of each project as developed by the director/manager.
Manage the necessary business plan and financial pro forma updates required. Participate in the project status meetings with Executives, advisory and/or steering committee members when the escalation of risks and issues warrants.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Significant senior level Project Management experience, with at least 10 to 15 years of experience working with large-scale, complex organizations and systems, preferably healthcare systems.
Computer literate with strong Microsoft and project software suite skills.
A PMP certification of similar training will be considered valuable.
CHC, CHFM, CHE, CHM or other professional health care engineering certification is considered a plus.
Demonstrated experience in the development of high performing nationally distributed teams.
Experience in strategizing, creating and implementing a multi-year, multi-billion dollar capital master plans and programs across multiple uses and locations.
Ability to assess current assets both owned and leased, and determine highest and best uses as well as creative alternatives.
Experience with the selection and implementation of project management software tools and data management systems.
Experience with selection and installation of new energy efficient systems and new technology to lower energy costs and operating costs.
Strong management skills within a multifaceted and complex organization with a diverse set of perspectives.
Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating, customer service standards, and equal opportunity and affirmative action.
