The ACNIO provides visionary clinical nursing leadership to advance Denver Health utilization of the clinical information systems consistent with the goals and objectives of clinical and strategic initiatives of the organization to support care coordination. The ACNIO provides strategic leadership for a comprehensive nursing informatics program that spans the care continuum. The ACNIO provides transformational leadership and guidance in the standardization and alignment of clinical systems throughout Denver Health entities, ambulatory care, and post-acute care and affiliate organizations. The ACNIO is accountable for design of the clinical systems, standardized workflows and operational processes, quality patient care realization, and integration of data outcome metrics that support clinical and financial decision making. Oversees clinical IT implementations to mitigate unintended consequences to patient safety. The role works in collaboration with the CIO, CNO and CMIO in the strategy, development and implementation of Information Technology to support the multidisciplinary care providers. The ACNIO serves as a liaison for hospital senior leadership at the national and local levels. Reports to CNO and CIO jointly and has a dyad partnership with the CMIO. Interacts with the Executive Staff, eHS managers, Nursing managers, health care professionals, Department Managers fostering an open and collaborative style of communication and leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education: Master's degree in nursing, nursing informatics, or information management from an accredited school. Bachelors in Nursing, Health Information Management, Informatics, or related field required. BSN and R.N. License required. Experience: Requires 10 years' experience in nursing with evidence of significant experience in informatics and implementations. Healthcare executive experience preferred. Thorough understanding of hospital, ambulatory and home health nursing operations, interdepartmental patient work flow and care coordination across the care continuum. Understanding of theoretical foundations of professional nursing and change management. Demonstrated ability to work with teams and facilitate teams to consensus. Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives from conception to successful implementation. Working knowledge of current and evolving patient care delivery models, hospital operations, human resources processes, healthcare finance, payment systems, patient safety, regulatory and continuum of care. Excellent written and verbal communication silks required. In-depth understanding of healthcare information systems and technology. In-depth understanding of nursing practice and clinical practice with the ability to work with the all disciplines in healthcare. Experience with clinical information systems development or implementation required, and specific experience with healthcare business process management preferred. Experience managing projects in a health care institution, resulting in a track record of success. Demonstrates initiative, exercises good judgment, exhibits strong service orientation, and has the ability to achieve results through others. Success in managing a team of highly qualified, autonomous professionals. Has a strong sense of individual accountability, while being an excellent team player with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across an organization. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Specific knowledge in nursing informatics scope and standards of practice. Specific knowledge in quality improvement practices and principles. Expertise of industry best practices and how to successfully introduce and maintain EHR's using evidence based practice. Ability to communicate and maintain good relationships with clinical personnel, medical staff, administration and other departments. Ability to plan, prioritize and direct the work of others. Have skill in negotiation and conflict resolution. Be able to make sound judgment in setting priorities and solving problems. ~Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state. ANCC Informatics Nursing preferred. Certification in an Epic application preferred, certification in Project Management preferred. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
