This role reports into the EMEA Flow Trading Business Manager. Primary responsibility will be to ensure that the trading business is managed effectivity within it's risk framework, providing value add risk analysis to the business and escalating where necessary around risk exposures and limits. Encompassed within Business Management within GM, this team provide effective risk challenge in conjunction with broader strategic, analytical and operational initiatives. It involves implementing robust risk management strategies and global best practices working on the trading floor and building strong relationships across desks and with second line market risk. The role will be challenging and varied. It will offer exposure across the EMEA Global Market franchise and the successful individual will help to enable Nomura to manage its business more efficiently
Key objectives critical to success:
Key point of contact for the Head of the Desk to provide both holistic risk assessment, deep dive risk analysis and consult on general market risk management issues.
Responsibility for ensuring EMEA Flow Rates business is managed to within it's risk limits and escalating to management as appropriate to take action where needed.
Work in close collaboration with Front Office Risk and the 2nd line Market Risk function
Build-out of risk frameworks and accuracy, completeness and consistency in reporting and promote global and regional best practice in terms of systems, trade flow and support.
Capital, balance sheet, and RWA assessment including working with senior management to allocate resources.
Understand the requirements of the Interest Rates business so that you can adequately represent the business in meetings and ensure that outcomes meet their requirements.
Build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with business heads, senior managers, team members, technical experts, Risk Management and other Corporate functions.
Provide analysis and presentations to support strategic proposals and initiatives.
Promote and market the business internally and externally.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Strong understanding of Rates market risk
Degree or equivalent education, with ACA / CFA / MBA qualification an advantage
Knowledge of accounting concepts and financial analysis / presentation
Understanding of how an investment bank works at an operational level, with capital markets (particularly Fixed Income) experience an advantage
Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Attention to detail, coupled with good written and oral communication skills
Strong willingness to learn and be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others, as required
Organised approach to work with an ability to present complex subjects in an accessible manner
Project management experience and ability to coordinate inputs and opinions from different sources
Adaptability to change and ability to build relationships and work with others through influence (rather than authority)
Ability to interact confidently with senior management and maintain absolute confidence when required.
