The Health & Welfare (H&W) Benefits Consultant supports the day to day execution of all health and welfare (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, spending accounts, etc.) projects related to strategy, design, vendor management, and compliance. The H&W Benefits Consultant supports the Benefit Center of Excellence to coordinate and communicate potential and actual changes impacting the benefits programs offered to Partners' employees and their families. The H&W Benefits Consultant will be a critical member of the H&W COE responsible for supporting and contributing to the strategic direction of Partners H&W benefits program.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Actively participate and coordinate oversight activities for all H&W related processes, policies, programs and vendors • Participate in cross functional teams related to strategic planning and process improvement • Support the development of the benefits budget specific to H&W programs • Partner with HR Shared Services, as needed, to ensure effective and timely handling of H&W benefit operations (e.g., vendor file processing and bill payment process are accurate) • Partner with HR Shared Services to manage vendor relationships, improve status quo and deliver exceptional results. • Resolve member escalations and research root cause. Proactively suggest solutions to status quo • Lead key cross-team projects by setting timelines, allocating tasks and reporting status to H&W manager. Sample projects include Open Enrollment, union negotiations and new vendor implementation • Review H&W benefit program communications for accuracy • Support analysis of program performance, evaluating impact of potential program changes and building actionable business case to present to present to HR management
Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Human Resources or other related field. * Five (5) or more years of experience in H&W benefits, or three (3) years of Health & Welfare consulting experience * CEBS certification preferred. * Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations related to health and welfare plans * Tactical expertise and knowledge of benefits systems, processes and tools * Knowledge of benefits governance, plan design, laws and regulations, related financials, legal, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements, benefit program administration, and enrollment processes. * Strong skills in all Window-based office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) plus an ability to work with relational databases
