Under the broad administrative supervision of the Senior Vice Provost for Student Life, the Director of New Student Programs will administer all university efforts to onboard successfully all entering students (first-year and transfers) in order to increase the chances of each student to be retained and to persist through graduation. The position must work effectively with university and student services across the campus , including the academic deans and associate deans.
Master's Degree and 3-5 years experience.
Strong troubleshooting, administrative and project management skills. Ability to develop and successfully implement learning outcomes for transition and family programs
Experience in training, supervising, team-building, evaluating, and providing leadership development skills to a large group of student staff.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with students, faculty and administrators. Comfortable and effective as a trainer and in speaking in front of large groups of students, stakeholders, faculty and families.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, to persevere in positive ways when facing challenges, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and make good decisions that lead to positive outcomes.
Ability to listen and maintain positive and effective working relationships with many stakeholders who have varied and often competing needs and desires relating to transition programs.
Experience in successfully collecting data and implementing assessment strategies to inform future program improvements.
Highly developed diplomatic skills.
Strong desire to be a team player within Student Life.
