Manages all activities associated with biomedical &/or social-behavioral research studies considered very complex by the inclusion of several of the following: multiple investigators, teams, sites, sub-contracts, participants, longitudinal assessments/ interventions; &/or multi-million dollar budgets. Ensures completion of contract requirements & client specifications. Oversees day-to-day operations including identifying & securing needed resources; creating, implementing, monitoring, & updating project plans; facilitating meetings with appropriate parties; tracking tasks/deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones &/or goals are attained; monitoring & reporting progress as appropriate; & resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner. May co-author scientific papers for presentation & publication & coordinates writing, submission & administration of grants. Ensures that all study activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).
This position will manage the day-to-day and long-term research and service activities of the Implementation Science Coordination, Consultation, and Collaboration Initiative (ISC3I). ISC3I is the national coordinating and technical support center for the 65+ CFAR/ARC (Centers for AIDS Research/AIDS Research Centers) supplement projects funded as part of the HHS Ending the HIV Epidemic plan. The research aims of ISC3I are to identify, collate, and disseminate shared measures and best practices related to implementation research frameworks, outcomes, determinants, and strategies in HIV. The service aims are to work with funded regional implementation science Hubs to provide training and support, resources, and consultation for academic researchers and practice-based implementation partners on funded HIV projects around implementation science.
In addition to general project management tasks and supporting scientific activities (e.g., literature reviews) as directed by the PIs and Co-Is, this position will oversee all operational aspects of ISC3I. This includes but is not limited to: maintaining the online Community of Practice, resource repository, and Mailchimp listserv; liaising with the executive committee of Hub leaders and HIV implementation science experts; communicating with Third Coast CFAR (ISC3I’s parent grant) and Northwestern University administrators; scheduling and facilitating meetings with investigators and staff from the supplement projects; managing a webinar series and the implementation and evaluation of consultation sessions between ISC3I coaches and projects; coordinating data collection from the projects in collaboration with the Hubs; managing external communications and materials for dissemination; supervising junior staff; processing financial documents; and allocating appropriate IT and human resources needed to complete these activities. Regular communication with federal partners from NIH, CDC, and HRSA; local and regional health agencies; academic investigators; and research staff across the US should be expected.

Leads execution & control of a biomedical &/or social science project or research study.
Coordinates processing & analysis of data, conduct of experimental tests & procedures
Develops new &/or revised research methodologies.
Ensures completion of study activities per protocol including recruitment.
Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications.
Ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.
Assists PI in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, & preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress & final reports, etc.
Coordinates between sponsoring agencies, collaborating organizations &/or other research &/or educational institutions.
Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
Manages lab/study budget & inventory including purchasing of supplies & services ensuring that they are necessary, reasonable & project related.
Orders & maintains inventory of study supplies.
Distributes intra-departmental charges.
Trains, directs, assigns duties to & supervises research staff, students, residents &/or fellows.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year research study or other relevant experience.
Supervisory or project management experience required.
Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Familiarity with implementation science concepts (e.g., models and frameworks, determinants, outcomes, strategies, study designs).
Familiarity with HIV prevention and care research and the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative.
Experience managing projects that involve multiple principal investigators, institutions, and/or public health practice settings.
