Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Strategy, Communications and Advancement, the incumbent is accountable for strategic oversight of all aspects of the fundraising and alumni engagement in support of the St. Lawrence College mission, vision, values, and strategic direction and objectives.
The Director will provide leadership and advice on institution-wide development and alumni relation strategies to senior management and their respective portfolios. The incumbent is responsible for developing fundraising goals and alumni engagement strategies. Successful College fundraising initiatives and stewardship strategies that advance the student learning environment, and that consider the local, national and international context, will be achieved through integrated planning and collaboration and creating opportunities for donors that align their values with the purpose and values of the College.
The incumbent is responsible for managing the human resources, financial budget and the operationalization of college objectives, and the annual reporting on all fundraising activities and impact related to the Development and Alumni Relations portfolio. The incumbent manages the College’s scholarship and bursary programs to promote the SLC values of Students First and establishes relevant funding opportunities for students to encourage access to education as well as works collaboratively to increase the stream of endowment income and expendable revenue in support of student learning and success. The incumbent oversees the data analysis and research functions, including developing and maintain policies and procedures to guide the College on fundraising programs, alumni engagement, and partnership activities and stewardship planning.
The incumbent oversees and directs the College’s global alumni relations initiatives including: collaborative planning with SLC’s marketing and communications to raise the profile of the College with donors and alumni; create opportunities through integrated planning with faculty and staff to develop student/alumni engagement activities; engage with internal committees to promote creative partnership opportunities and services for alumni; represent the College by presenting best practices at conferences; and collaborates with corporate leaders, government agencies, foundations, philanthropists, alumni and other community representatives/partners to build strong and trusting partnerships necessary for long term success of the college’s fundraising goals and inspire engagement with the College.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Bachelor degree in sales, marketing, business, public relations, communications, or another field of study relevant to the duties of the position. An acceptable combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation will be considered an asset.
Minimum 9 years of progressive experience which includes the following areas: successful leadership and people management, financial management, project management, relationship management, strategic planning, public relations, revenue generation and events planning. Experience with financial management and contact management database systems is desirable. Experience in post-secondary or not for profit environment will be considered an asset.

Hours per week: 37.5
Start Rate: In addition to the salary range of $100,203 - $133,602 / annum the compensation package includes a performance-based salary program and a comprehensive benefit package. Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
