Lecturer of Business Communications – Re-advertised (NOT Tenure Track)
Position: Lecturer of Business Communications. One position beginning August 2020. Full time, not tenure track; this position has the possibility of annual reappointment with a preliminary review after the first four years. After consecutive reappointments for the initial six years, reappointments require an extensive teaching and professional service portfolio.
Responsibilities: Teach 4 courses per semester (up to 24 credit hours per academic year) of undergraduate and/or graduate courses at our downtown campus. Teach primarily Business Communications courses; advise students; provide service to the department, college and university. Duties will also include course development and enhancement through new technologies and innovations in teaching and learning. A focus on persuasive communication techniques for use in student success strategies will be paramount. Must be available to teach online, on-campus, day, evening, or weekend classes.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Communications, English, Education, or an MBA; a minimum of one year of recent, post-secondary teaching experience with a course load of at least 12 credit hours per year; minimum of one year of full-time business/professional experience; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to design and teach Communications courses using lectures, discussions, and presentation (oral and written).
Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree in Communications, English, Education, Business or Law; three years university teaching experience in Business Communications; three years of full-time business/professional experience; and ability to design and teach Communications course using current digital communications platforms and demonstrated experience working with university students of diverse backgrounds.
Department: The Department has 15 full-time faculty members and offers coursework at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels.
College: The College of Business Administration has over 63 full-time faculty members. Its programs are accredited at both the graduate and undergraduate levels by AACSB. Enrollment in the College exceeds 3,000 students. Degrees offered by the College include the DBA, MBA, MLRHR, Master of Accountancy, Bachelor and Master of Computer Information Science, BBA and a joint MBA-JD.
University: Cleveland State University enrolls approximately 16,000 students. It is located within walking distance of the downtown business and entertainment centers and has strong ties with the business and public sectors in Northeast Ohio.
